Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but rather bizarrely the latest batch of BBC Local Radio TV trails features a brief flash of this old friend...

It's been recoloured red and white and is used to represent 'news' as one of the ingredients of the breakfast show.
Spotted it on a Radio York trail this lunchtime.

It still looks better beaming out the Nine . But the transmitter is almost infamously associated with BBC News, so I'm not surprised.

Very Nice! I would prefer it if you could still see a bit of the city skyline around the graphic though.

I've been having a think about the 10 and that stupid 'Newsnight has started on BBC2' thing they have. I then came up with two options -
1) Just add 5mins to the nationals so the main news finishes as newsnight starts.
2) Add 20mins to the 10 giving more time for the stories and adding sport and business news on BBC 1. At 10:30 the anchor can say 'Newsnight is starting on BBC2 now, with analysis(?) of all our main stories tonight, or stay with us on BBC 1 and BBC N24 for the sport, business and local news'. Then a short sting after which the weather, sport and business follow. Then at 10:45 the anchor would read the headlines then say 'Stay with us here on BBC N24 for a full paper review, but now on BBC 1 we join our news teams where you are. Bye bye.' There would then be a sting on N24 and then the papers could be done in the 1/6/10 studio with the same presenter on the videowalls. I know that one is a but drastic, but it solves all the problems and will offer a full hour on N24 with everything fitting in and regional news on 1 so would be good after the digi switchover
Just some ideas for you to mull over.

So change the format of the Ten so it is the same length as Newsnight, adding in-depth analysis like that you see on Newsnight, just so you can make a bigger mess of an already messy junction? Jenious.
To be honest there's not much wrong with the current set-up. Newsnight has a core audience and it normally starts late anyway with lots of trails before it to so viewers can switch from the end of the Ten, while you've got the alternative of sport and business on N24, or the latest prediction for the apocolypse on ITV.
