George Alagiah is out and about for the BBC. Co-presenting from South Yorkshire.

I do think this kind of story needs its own thread. Can't understand why Rob closed it down. We usually discuss big stories in their own threads, and this certainly falls into that category.

It was quite amusing to watch George stumble, rehearse, mutter and basicly fall to bits on the one, before actualy reading his script!

and again on the six and ten!

And the "I'm George Alagiah" thing where he went up to a random couple was so cringeworthy at the end of the six - was it just me or was it one of those crap editions of the six?

How come on some of the location graphics around the Ulley area on the national bulletins they merely put South Yorkshire? I appreciate that not everyone will know where Catcliffe or Ullley is (I do because I come from that sort of area) but surely they could have put Ulley, Rotherham on instead of South Yorkshire. I mean for the average viewer Ulley could be in Barnsley with just a general location slug!

The BBC have someone holding Matthew(?)'s umbrella at 10 Downing Street so I don't think the BBC news is under threat.

It would have been Huw's umbrella if it was this afternoon!

No Mathew did the 3 - 5 in Downing Street this afternoon, with Huw taking back over for the 5.

George Alagiah was presenting from Downing Street on tonight's Six - I feel sorry for the poor bloke, he was in Yorkshire yesterday and is now back in London, which I would imagine involves a lot of driving/train catching/flying. Meanwhile Kerplunksky was allowed to stay in the nice, warm, dry studio.

But as a reporter/presenter surely he would want to be where the action is and not just in a studio?
