I dont think they do otherwise they would have give her her old job back with ben brown

its a big circle
step 1.emily goes on maternity
step 2 joanna gosling takes her place
step3.joannas old slot is given to anita mcveigh.
step 4 emily gets anita mcveighs old job as a relife presenter acroos the bbc

so i think she has been sent back to the bottomshes only a relife presenter you know all of the slots have been taken

Anita has never been a relief presenter across the BBC. She has, at times, being a relief presenter for News 24. I think I am right in saying she has never actually presented on any other output.

I think it is acurate to say that Emily is highly regarded, she's also a Newsnight presenter and regularly stands in on the Nationals. Much in the same way that Sophie Raworth was promoted through the ranks I feel it's a question of Emily displaying talent. Obviously, it is slightly subjective to describe Emily as 'the next best thing' - but she clearly has potential.

The thing is she showed that potential before and got the Monday-Thursday 19.00-23.00 slot on N24 but because she went on maternity leave other presenters have shined and filled in the gaps. Although she is highly regarded enough to fill in on Newsnight, the nationals and N24, where she does show talent, I would have thought it would have been more of a privilege and more highly regarded to have a set slot as opposed to just filling in for others. Emily did have this but now it's gone and to me it looks like she will have to work her way back up again to get her own slot.

Fiona will be doing the TEN tonight

i think she should do it every sunday because it keeps the ten more consistant to only see two presenters on the show instead of a world presenter which people in the uk see nothing more off .mishal isnt a listed ten presenter is the point im trying to make

appearing on BBC1/2 is way above anything on N24, permanent slot or not.

People seem to forget that Joanna had her own weekday slot before she went on maternity leave and asked to move to weekends...

I think the role Emily has now is not just better for her but also for News 24 - after all at least Joanna presents every evening whereas Emily also did Newsnight, special stuff etc...

Yes - as I say before this she presented the weekday 9am-1pm slot with Philip Hayton Mondays to Thursdays. She then asked to be moved to weekends because she had a young child apparently...

Yes, and I also remember her presenting the overnight shift before she made the move to weekday mornings with Ben Geoghegan (and later Philip Hayton). She used to share it with Clarence Mitchell and Rageh Omaar.
