This morning's Media Guardian is reporting proposed changes at BBC News with News 24 becoming the main news provider for TV news and cutbacks to the main BBC1 bulletins...

In BBC news, radical suggestions being considered are said to include cutting back foreign news bureaux.

The editorial teams for the main BBC1 bulletins are expected to be cut back, with digital service News 24 to become the main news provider for TV news, though some staff would be retained to tailor output to specific news shows.

News 24 is already operating in the main TV Centre news studio, with BBC World moving into its old studio.

News 24 ISN'T operating from the main TV Centre News studio at the moment - but it would be interesting to see how it would look if it moved to N6 and World to N8.

Perhaps they mean the 1/6/10 would come from N8 with World moving to N6?

I think what they mean is that the studio setup will be unchanged, News 24 now comes from the heart of the newsroom, compared to 10 years ago when it launched, when it occupied now what is the World studio.

Am I right in saying both N8 and N24's areas are working newsrooms, or is worlds a studio with a 'newsroom' inside? Im asking this as Worlds newsroom looks very enclosed, but N24's is open with people at all sides.

I'm almost speechless. Cutting back on what makes the BBC and BBC News so special just so Jonathon Ross can be on who knows what per year? What next, Newsnight? Thats true public service broadcasting.

News 24 ( N8 ) is on the top floor of the atrium in the BBC News Centre, so it is more open. BBC World is further into the building and is in a more enclosed room. However, neither of them are proper studios (unlike N6). They are merely built in the middle of office space.

And notice you can see the old flags engraved (?) on the panels at the top far end, around the stairs - as seen in part in these pics:

What with the huge amount of lighting used? is there a need for so much or is it because of the way the pic is taken?

Slight factual inaccuracy discussing the sad fire at the Cutty Sark on the Six ... the blaze could not be seen across London. It could only be seen for a few miles within the immediate vicinity and perhaps from the air.

You're very lost. Nothing's happened. They're discussing what MIGHT happen. You might find reading what's been written useful.
