I think that the wipe from titles to studio was slower tonight on the 6. or is that just me?

I have to say the new titles on the BBC News bulletins do not look right. They are alright for BBC News24 but are not suitable for the main BBC1 bulletins.

I have never liked the new look set for the BBC1 News programmes anyway, the newsroom backdrop I always felt suited the bulletins better. Since BBC News will be moving to a brand new News Centre in Broadcasting around 2008/2009 then maybe I think I can put up with this look but I bet they will be a massive relaunch when the do move!

what newsroom backdrop would that be then? The BBC1 bulletins currently have a London skyline

Read the post again. It says thathe does not like the new look set for BBC 1, and that the newsroom, would have been a better option.

The 'real' newsroom from the 1999 set, or the fake newsroom from 2003, or the 2nd fake version from 2005?

I know I'm running the risk of starting another argument about 'presenter rotas', but . . .

Emily Maitlis is presenting the morning updates on BBC1 at the moment, which leads me to presume that she will present the One today. First time on a national BBC1 bulletin?

Would it also be the first time a Newsnight presenter has gone on to presenter the 1pm news?

Maitlis has presented Breakfast before now, but definately her first time on either the 1, 6 or 10.

Jeremy Paxman used to present on the national news back in the late 80's and early 90's.

I'm guessing that Emily will turn up on News 24 at 2pm, Jon Sopel has done the same on many Fridays in the last couple of months.

Gavin Esler has been doing the 5 o'clock news as well on Fridays for the last couple of weeks as well.

What is the blue thing on Emily's jacket? Is it a bit of tape to keep her mic lead out of vision?
