Indeed, i remember the behind the scenes shot on the 50 years DVD, when it was the last set, and it looked about as big as a shoe box

You are quite right to say that the set looks small. N6 is an incredibly small studio. It is only made to look a bit bigger by wide-angled lenses.

Although it does seem to be bigger with the screens now than before. Replying to other people's posts, I've always felt the nationals should come from a studio very similar to News 24/ World - having working people behind takes away the 'emptiness' feel you (or just me) feel sometimes when watching the nationals.
We are now stuck with the video walls, and we'll have to make the most of them, so I at least feel the backdrop should go back to being newsroom style - or at least have the colour scheme of News 24. I personally hate the idea of using London's backdrop - and if you do at least use a real one (window) or something to hide the lines (ie use green screen).

Well it's a whole year of the nationals set today. It's held up better than I originally thought, after all those gaps in the screens at the start.

OMG!
It is
It only feel like it was last month when it was bought in.
Considering they keep tinkering with things bit by bit like the titles, graphics etc. it's no surprise people lose track.
It's gone quickly though!

I like the set in N6 (and its twin in TC7), I think it was money well spent and provides very versitile studios.
Yes, it's tiny, and ocassionaly with some shots on widescreen you see the grey panel at the "edge", but normally they use very clever shots to make the studio seem alot bigger than it is.
A comment was passed by a guest on Breakfast the other day. He said he was surprised how small the studio was, Natasha replied that it was all "smoke and mirrors on TV", not a bad analogy really.
Can't wait to see what they have been up to in TC7 for the Election Programme tomorrow night

Well, checkin back 24 hours after my first ever contribution it looks like i started quite a flurry of responses!! Nice one, and thanks for answering the question about whether the desk moves or not (it's not - I now know)!! So is it on wheels and they just drag the cables along the back? Or is it all unlugged and plugged back in again at the other end?
I too can't believe it's a year since the launch of BBCvideowalls! I must be getting old!
Can I talk about Newsnight on here??
Paxman gave Hazel Blears and Alex Salmond a rough ride last night. Bit unnecessary really and just going over tired old questions about Blair/change/promises/manifesto pledges and their worth - heard it all before but quite entertaining.
