Just wondering if anyone caught the daytime updates today, there's been no mention of were they came from?

I assume it was CSO for practical reasons, particularly before the 1, but what backdrop would they have used? It would look silly with the skyline backdrop as Sophie was in N24 studio just 45 mins later, not very good continuity. Anyone able to help out, otherwise I doubt i'll be able to sleep tonight..

Skyline background for the 10.58 update Wink
Apparently they used a set of titles instead of the wide camera shot as well, but I missed the start, so can't confirm this.

I think that may be a corner of a studio as it seemed very tight, and the report was shown while Newsnight, Newsround and Working Lunch were still making use of the studio. I think what they have shown is the analysis section, which will be green screened.

Well Newsnight is in TC7 as normal, albeit with a very tight right hand shot of the set. You could see what looked like one of the light boxes on the floor in the right hand corner of the set when Jeremy Paxman did the opening, so it looks like they were just rehersing for thursday during the day and not revamping the set.

Perhaps the BBC are reading our posts.

A seemless end to the ONE today. "On News 24 now the sport....and here on BBC One we join our news teams...." Cue to shot of Matthew and Sophie......."

I guess the One will come from News 24 all week.

So what are you saying? Was it Sophie at the desk on her own, then to the sport, and then Matthew & Sophie when they went back to the desk?

The end shots were still a mess, same as yesterday, just the wording used was a bit better.

You saw sophie talking, then looked down at her papers while bbc1 opted to the regions, then n24 cut to a shot of matthew and sophie.

The BBC could save themselves even more money simply using the N24 set for all their bulletins and just using a CSO set (the weather studio perhaps) for short bulletins. It looks great and things would be a little more streamilined.

This cannot happen. It would jeopordise News 24 should it need to continue to roll with breaking news when one of the bulletins on BBC One is required. At the moment News 24 can opt out of a bulletin should it need or want to. If they do as you suggest they are tied and could miss important events. News programs on BBC One are aimed at an audience who just want to know whats going on. News 24 is aimed at people who want to know what is going on now or as it happens events. If important things are going on News 24 drops the bulletins and continues on its own.

Yes, of course. That slipped my mind.

Hi - I've been reading these pages avidly for ages - but only just registered as a user today. So I can join in the discussions from now on, not just read what you're all sayin.

Just sayin HELLO

...and guess I'd better make a relevant comment.....

so how about this.

How many sides does the 'video' wall have for the main BBC news set? 3 I'm assuming. Today on a wide shot on the SIX, you saw the edge of what would be the right hand side - showing it to be quite short really. Does the desk move from where it is at Breakfast? Or is it in the same place for Breakfast ONE SIX and TEN?
Are we to assume the SOFA is just left or is it also only set up for BREAKFAST?

It's these daft questions which I leave in my head. Now I'm a registered user for this site I might get the answers!!
cheers Smile

Welcome to TVF.

The set has 3 sides, a bit like this

------------
|
| A
|
|
|
|
|
| B
|-------------

The desk is at A for Breakfast and at B for the 6 etc, the weather is done in corner A.
