Well that's weird. New closing bed for the update but not before they handed to the regions - that was the old one!

Indeed, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc-eviXbXq0 Video of the new closing.

Have they trimmed the start off the titles as well?

They have indeed but the titles were shortened by about 3 seconds a little while ago as the opening rumble part was too long.

Booooooo

Why on earth do they do a "World News Tonight" style restarting of the bed, its so jarring, with the added symbols it sounds awful too. It's still to countdowney for my liking. Boo hiss, bring back the 8 year old one!

I think it actually sounds a lot better than restarting the 8 year old one over and over.

Is it just me or are the headline beds for the 1 o'clock and the headline beds for the 6 o'clock different?

I'm sure at least with the "it's quarter past 1/6...our top story this lunchtime/tonight" there was two thunderclaps on the 1 but only one thunderclap on the 6. But I haven't got a video to confirm this so can't be sure.

No, its just you, but the one clap at 15 mins past does sound crap.

And I can't believe they haven't updated the closing bed! The close at the end of the programme at 7 better have changed!!!

I'm sure they used the new bed at 6.30 as well Confused

The thunderclap is just played in when needed so you can have as many of them as you like.

Rather stupid in South East, the new headline bed for main headlines, then South East used the old one, which sounded completely wrong.

Newsflash:

I've just watched the lunchtime Spotlight and for their opening they used their normal 1999 regional generic sting...

BUT for the close they used the nationals/n24/world music.....

Is this some sort of mega-corporate rebrand going on!?

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Please don't say the lighthouse has gone again, pleeeeeaase ...

But, saying that, it may indicate that we might be getting a new regional look soon - could the glory days of individual regional titles be returning...?

I love the new bed - sounds very 'ear-catching' (I say that way too much) and up-to-date

What I can't understand is why they only have a clap at the start and restart the whole bed over and over. Surely the BBC, the oldest and biggest broadcaster on the planet can manage to play a sound effect over the music too.
