Might the closing music have been changed as well? I know we won't hear it on the one, but all may be revealed at the end of the six.

I should think so Smile

I sincerely hope so, and I hope that the old return-to-London sting has been reinstated (maybe, we live in hope...)

Oh dear, Sophie just did one of those contrived walks again after the regional summary at quarter past. She wasn't quite queued in time so you saw her take a few steps foward from a standing start, stop at an awkward angle and then tried to find her camera gracefully. Why?

I saw that too, I just thought that the gallery/transmission team had forgot to play a bumper of the BBC One O'Clock News screen.

I like the new thunderclap in the headlines and the music etc very nice indeed.

Don't suppose anybody has a video so I can save it to my hard disc?

The new bed is brilliant, it makes the news sound really serious.

Booooooo

Why on earth do they do a "World News Tonight" style restarting of the bed, its so jarring, with the added symbols it sounds awful too. It's still to countdowney for my liking. Boo hiss, bring back the 8 year old one!

Is it just me or are the headline beds for the 1 o'clock and the headline beds for the 6 o'clock different?

I'm sure at least with the "it's quarter past 1/6...our top story this lunchtime/tonight" there was two thunderclaps on the 1 but only one thunderclap on the 6. But I haven't got a video to confirm this so can't be sure.

And I can't believe they haven't updated the closing bed! The close at the end of the programme at 7 better have changed!!!

Natasha K or Kate S was anchoring with Tim Willcox on N24 at around 9pm - they were quite good together

Don't you mean 9 am ? It was Julian Worricker and Karin Giannone tonight. And this morning it was Kate Sanderson with Tim Wilcox; not Natasha Kaplinsky.

Kate Sanderson is now Kate Gerbeau - I did not realise she went back to the BBC from Five News. That is great news Very Happy

Doh! Got my Sandersons and Silvertons mixed up there. Why do these newsreaders have to have such similar names?!

Actually, on the subject of Sandersons, what happened to Valerie Sanderson? She used to present weekday afternoons with Bill Turnbull on News 24 but disappeared, never to be seen again.

I believe Val is still at BBC News just no regular presenting role. She certainly was a main News 24 weekday afternoon anchor with Bill Turnbull for quite some time.

Is she the one who has the 'pleasure' of John Humpherys at home off screen, or is that someone else?

Well that's weird. New closing bed for the update but not before they handed to the regions - that was the old one!
