I do feel Sian is overlooked quite a bit, i remember that during the 1999 era she was 3rd presenter choice for the 6, anchoring it when Huw and Fiona were away. She was great then and is great now, however if she is ever moved to the 6, i hope they move Bill there as well, they have great chemistry.

I think Sian Williams is a great newsreader - she reads correctly and I never see her make mistakes - bring on making her a permnament slot on the 6 or even better, the 10.

Any reason why we got a Network announcement tonight?
And I don't like that opt in sting although I'm not surprised the old one was quickly replaced - it wonderfully took an age to do its thing! The new one has lost the build up although I can understand more time wanting to be spent on the news than the animations.

I pretty certain I didn't imagine it, and perhaps it may have been mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but I'm pretty sure I watched the massive long sting, then Dermot saying "Good night" and the closing music.

Possibly because of the fact Emily Maitlis was presenting and some regions might not have the relevant pre-recorded anno?
North West did have one, although it sounded rather rushed and differently worded to usual.
Midlands had a regional anouncement, it was an unfamiliar voice though. Usualy its Ashley Blake, Or Nick Owen. It sounded like Satnam Rana.

Oh yes, the last sting was fabulous. At first I assumed it acted as a breakfiller of sorts that just ran for an age in case a region opted-back too early.

No, he'd be busy doing Newsnight , unless he did the One or the Six . If he did the Ten he'd have to present the bulletin, record the opt-in and then run to TC7 in time for Newsnight to start.

Are the announcements pre-recorded? In the South it doesn't sound pre-recorded. As far as I'm aware the regions' announcements are live, at least BBC South's.
