I think people are making too much of this presenter thing. First off, it is from Wikipedia...hardly reliable. I'll only believe it if I see a press release on the BBC website and/or a report from a reputable journalistic website.

Secondly, the various bulletins have a couple of designated main presenters but people seem to think there is this huge hierarchy of every BBC News presenter and that they have to follow that when the main presenters are unavailable. It is more a case of getting whoever they can to fill in, sometimes at short notice. I think people are thinking about this too deeply.

If this is true, they are huge changes, effecting almost all parts of BBC News.

However I don't think they are true. I really can't see Huw Edwards being moved from the Ten to present the Daily Politics (the Dimbleby duties, while high profile, aren't that often) - especially when he's only recently started the Five.
Yeh but maybe it wouldn't need that much. I think the six has got a lot of bad publicity for moving Natasha to the six, and as my poll showed here (on 'are the BBC putting Looks before talent') so maybe she's leaving the BBC, or perhaps moving to the One? As for George he might be bored of the Six as he has been doing it for 4 years, maybe he'll move to just BBC World. Then there are presenters like Kate Silverton and Charlie Stayt who could take over from Williams and Sopel.

Also on this thread most people agree the six should have new presenters since the new editor, maybe he's taken it onboard?

I really hope that this rumour is untrue.
The current set up works well enough - although, I am not too bothered about George. However, if it is true - I would hate to think that Sophie Raworth is being shifted yet again in favour of Natasha.
I personally think that if Natasha were to move - she'd be better heading to light entertainment.
As for Huw leaving the 'Ten' - I really hope not - he is a great anchor and is the Beeb's main news anchor. The Daily Politics would not be a lucrative move for him would it?

Then again in the past year or so both George and Huw have been found poitions on News 24 and World, an exit plan? But then have you seen who they have presenting Breakfast - Joanna Gosling fri-sun!!! she was only recently promoted to take over from emily! The move would mean that 3 of the women and Jon on News 24 were moving: my point is that they would have to totally resemble News 24. And where would Sussanna Reid, George and Natasha end up? (by the way there's no mention on wiki of any move on the 1!)

Oh that's quite obviously crap! Whoever's added this info talks about changes to the One and Six, and then says they're being scrapped on the News 24 page.

Arrow No one has yet said anything about George Alagiah's new role
Arrow And on this new schedule for News 24, where is Nick Owen (who just joined) and Louise Minchin (who recently became relief for Breakfast)?

Plus they would need new relief presenters for Breakfast as Simon McCoy is no longer available.

But more importantly, why is this NO WHERE ELSE ON THE WEB???

It did say that they had been scrapped from News 24 only.

Simon hasn't presented Breakfast for about two years. Nick doesn't have a permanent slot anyway and it says on the Six page that George will move permanently to News 24...the sky changes were announced on wiki first too.

Well they've ALL been taken down now so I guess that's an end to it - unless it was a Wiki patroller who took them down because they weren't proven by other web pages!

wow a much nicer sting there at the end of regions! Shorter, faster, beepyer! I just missed a cap. Anyone else get it?

Indeed, there seems to have been some new camera work tried out tonight. The update closed with just a zoom out and it stayed on the right hand side, rather than the long pan they do to the left.

Looked good.

It was a nice refreshing change. Was it just today, or has the new sting/pan out been used since the beginning of the week?

On Wikipedia it says that from Monday April 02 2007, the Six o'clock news will be co-presented by Sian Williams and Jon Sopel, and the Ten o'clock news will be co-hosted by Fiona Bruce and Dermot Murnaghan with Jane Hill and Bill Turnbull presenting on Fridays. The presenters will also present a relaunched Five O'clock News Hour on BBC News 24. Huw Edwards will move to a new role replacing David Dimbleby as host of major events and will also take over main presenting duties on The Daily Politics.

Is this true?

Ooer... did you see the School Report item? The anchors doing the standing pres looked a bit like George and Sian... not wanting to make fun of young children, I think their delivery needs to improve a little.
