Well it's something else he might consider in the new job.

Can offensive language be used in the day or just in later bulletins. Could you call someone a humourless c**t in the morning or just leave it till later. ?

I just can't help but feel that that comment was directed at me in some way. However, that would imply that I had missed some humour in your previous post - and as there was absolutely no evidence of humour in your previous post, that can't possibly be true.

Therefore, I'll just stick to reiterating my point that Mark Popescu's blog specifically referred to the question of whether or not to include expletives in daytime bulletins when they are an integral part of the story.

Why not? Who has been on this week?

Dermot twice and Fiona twice so far.

Looks like it will be Emily Maitlis tonight since she is doing the Five O'Clock News.

Who does the Five has no relation to who does the Ten, apart from Huw, who is the main presenter of both. I've never known anyone else do both on the same day.

Emily has been doing the 5 all week. I expect it will be Fiona as normal tonight, as she has had her 2 days off this week. Fiona is currently not contracted to work on N24, although when her contract comes up for renewal i do expect this will be changed.

I think the ten is has the most stability in terms of news presenters as its normal Huw or Fiona with Dermot as a relief presenter. Its very rare for someone other then these three to front the show.

Just noticed that Mark Popescu has taken over as editor of the One and Six. Hopefully, with his background on the Ten and as the person who led the redesign of the Six when Huw took over, this will lead to the bulletins being less fluffy? Fingers crossed...

Fans of the old six news like me might be hoping that the new editor considers changing the presenters. That would show he has some genuine intention to improve things. I'm curious about this reference he made to the use of language on the six. Does this perhaps mean he is going to encourage the presenters to write using words with more than two syllables ? I think one of them might struggle.

Saw BBC News tonight at six, and I really liked Jon and Jane presenting, and think that they should become the new secondary presenters, but would love to see them as main presenters. On the other hand though, I dont think News 24 could afford to loose them.

Huw Edwards hasn't been on the ten last week I think because he is reporting all next week in Iraq with the Iraq - 4 years with a special logo. Nice to see that Huw is away from the studio haven't seen him report since that Bill Gates interview I think.

New strand running across BBC News - "Iraq: 4 years on" with a dog about the size of the themed boxes on News 24 on screen through-out the report(s).

Looks rather intrusive although goes quite well with the straps - fills up abit of space.

It was pointless having it on screen during the report on BBC1 but would look good on BBC News 24.

Yes, he is. I've just switched on BBC World and he's reporting live from Umm Qasr in Iraq.
