Does anyone know whether the BBC is going to officially name any secondary presenters for the 1 and 6? I think they're little stint of mixing News 24 presenters with the nationals is ruining it. And are they going to make Emily deputy on the 1? She's been doing them every week for a long time now except for a few weeks ago (but that was because she was on the 10). I like both Emily and Jane Hill, but think that Jane Hill should get a regular job on BBC1 (maybe move Jane to the 1 and 6 on Fridays and weekends, and move Emily to Janes current slot?)

Its been about 5 months now since Darren Jordon left so I dont think we will see a fixed deputy for the one.

I wonder if Sian will return to cover for Natasha on the six now she back? In the last month or so we have seen many different stand-in presenters (Dermot, Jane, Ben, Jon).

And I dont understand why the BBC has been getting presenters like Ben Brown in, he's just terrible! I think a part-relaunch of presenting teams is needed.

I would...
Arrow put Bill Turnball as co-anchor of Breakfast (with Charlie Stayt in Secondary position)
Arrow Find Dermot Murngham (ignore my spelling please) a new job, possibly his own program (perhaps on News 24)
Arrow George Alagiah on the six with Sian or Jane
Arrow Huw and Fiona on the ten (but so they continue until 11 on News 24 - Huw instead of the 5 where hes appauling and Fiona instead of Real Story)
Arrow Put Kate Silverton on Sussanna's current job on Breakfast
Arrow And maybe Emily on the 1

What does anyone think?

I'm not too sure about that. Here's what I'd do:

Arrow Put Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams as main presenters of Breakfast, with Charlie Stayt and Susanna Reid covering
Arrow Have Jon Sopel as main presenter of the 1, and Jane Hill as deputy
Arrow Put Moira Stuart and Dermot Murnaghan as main presenters of the 6, with either Sophie Raworth or Natasha Kaplinsky as deputies (these two would have new jobs on News 24 somewhere)
Arrow Keep Huw Edwards and Fiona Bruce on the 10, with Dermot as deputy. Huw would also continue to present at 5, and Fiona would contiune with Real Story.
Arrow Make Jane Hill main weekend presenter, with either Moira or Louise Minchin covering

Yeh but then considering that Fiona will soon not be presenting Real Story as it's been axed for the One Show, she could present the second half of the ten, and I think that Huw is awful a lot of the time on the 5. He has his moments but then he's constantly looking around for help, never seems to know what he's going to say before he says it and is also really slow! Im sorry I just think he's like Peter Sissons who can't speak without an autocue, at which point Huw's great. There's no way I'd see Moira and Dermot on the Six, Moira's almost too respected to work with a second presenter (a bit like Huw) and I like George Alagiah!

Oh God, someone save us from a thread full of Arrow 's where people waste all our time going on about their fantasy line-ups!

So what is the technical problem today which has forced the nationals into the News 24 studio for the 1. They were in the normal studio for the morning news summary at 11.

OMG! I wish Nationals were in the World studio...

Just noticed that Mark Popescu has taken over as editor of the One and Six. Hopefully, with his background on the Ten and as the person who led the redesign of the Six when Huw took over, this will lead to the bulletins being less fluffy? Fingers crossed...

They don't seem to have any stability in terms of news presenters on the 10 do they

Fans of the old six news like me might be hoping that the new editor considers changing the presenters. That would show he has some genuine intention to improve things. I'm curious about this reference he made to the use of language on the six. Does this perhaps mean he is going to encourage the presenters to write using words with more than two syllables ? I think one of them might struggle.

If you'd bothered to read beyond the first paragraph of that blog posting, you'd realise that he was referring to language in connection with the difficulty of balancing the duty to report the completeness of a story with the question of whether or not to quote offensive language, including expletives, on daytime bulletins.

Well it's something else he might consider in the new job.

Can offensive language be used in the day or just in later bulletins. Could you call someone a humourless c**t in the morning or just leave it till later. ?
