Gavin, who did it yesturday and said he'd be back today then.
Gavin seems to be doing it an awful lot at the mo, I'd love it if it became the Five O'clock News with Gavin Esler in the relaunch, as he [in my opinion] is far better at News 24 than Huw. But equally if Gavin is just Huw's main relief, I'm still happy!

Indeed, its Gavin Esler - who is really suited to that slot.
On N24, I always get the impression Gavin is far more superior than just reading the autocue. His questions go further, he actually debates with guests not just interview them and is generally a good presenter. Brings lots of charisma and experience to the roll. Huw just seems bored sometimes.
With the ten and N24 both in N6, I'd love to see Huw present the ten o'clock news hour with Gavin replacing him on the five. Would be much better all round!

I noticed they were having problems with one of the Barco screens in TC7 yesterday. The same one flickered briefly on both the Six and Ten last night. I suppose they've done quite well not to fail on screen more often.

Odd... that would seem to indicate that the white strip bordering the screens is in fact an extension to the screen, and not a light box. If you look, the blue extends down to the strip.

Yes it is. The weather goes over the white strip so this is obvious.
There are no light boxes in the wall.

Well there is a light box under the screens as well, in the gap between where the screen finishes and the grey bar next to the floor is. But the red and white stripes below the background are displayed on the screens.

To be fair, nobody said it was.
I am guessing that it was designed to make it look at the same level as a similar red line in the pre-2006 N6 and the 'bar' in N8 to give consistancy.
