However Evan Davies turned up on Working Lunch earlier and was aston'd as BBC Economics Editor as well.

Given that he is the Economics Editor I'm not sure I get your point

Stephanie is the new Economic editor, though I thought that Evan moved to Today from the start of next month.

Perhaps the move will take place at the start of next month.

That was my point, Stephanie Flanders is now the Economics Editor and she was also aston'd as such. Perhaps there will be some overlap until Evan moves on.

According to Sian Williams, Evan will remain 'Economics Editor' for this week, so there is a bit of an overlap.

A better use of presenters for the National bulletins today with Jane Hill doing lunchtime and Jon Sopel doing early evening but why did they have to bring Simon McCoy in to do the late bulletin? Surely Chris Eakin could have done it or they could of got Matt to stay a bit longer? Rolling Eyes

I dont know why they cant use the News 24 presenters for the Nationals anyway of a weekend...Maxine at Lunchtime, Peter Early Evening and Chris Lowe on the late bulletin - its not as if any of them have never appeared on BBC One before and surely would save money? BBC One is likely to opt into News 24 any time it needs a news report or special now anyway so surely there is no need for a dedicated BBC One presenter.

What amazed me today was that the news bulletins were really short, for example lunchtime and evening news were only 15 and 10 minutes long respectively. Why couldn't they do full bulletins at the normal times, but opt into News 24 instead of having a special team and presenter.

Bank Holiday bulletins are always shorter though Wink

But the schedule was basically the same, but films instead of CBBC. Anyway ITV managed a 30 minute long lunchtime bulletin.
