I'm not sure whether this has been done before (or it was a mistake), but the ending to the National Bulletin (as shown on N24) seemed alot better than usual. Although it seemed odd to show the BBC News "endcap" as shown on the national bulletins, even though the ticker was still present, it provided a less "fudged" transition to the rostered presenter:

I'm sure this would be a good solution when they are both in N6. There is no sense in trying to fool the viewer that they are not watching a national bulletin, whatever part of the "N24 hour" it happens to be.

They have been using this end cap for a while now, and generally works quite well. I think at the beginning the shot wasn't quite lined up well causing it to not look very good, but it has certainly improved.

That's a much better transition between the bulletin and N24. As has been mentioned, it's obvious for N24 viewers when the simulcast is on so it's perhaps better to have the endcap and then cut away from that.

I know it's been used for quite a while, but at least it's better than the sudden and messy opt-outs that are seen when the endcap isn't used.

The end cap only applies, at present, to bulletins being presented from the News 24 studios. Bulletins coming from TC7 remain as previously with the here on BBC One ... and over on BBC News 24 mess.

Interestingly Louise never used the word "over" last night, she just said: "You can see more on all of todays stories on BBC News 24"

Yes - they've recently added a "knock-back" to the background so that the white text doesn't disappear into the set.

Sorry noggin, but what is a knock-back?

The fact that the lower section of the image has been darkened (so the logo can be seen) I believe

Did yesterday's early evening summary go smoothly. Considering it was billed as 'half time in the rugby' I'd assumed it may have been messy on News 24

Yep - the background has been "knocked back" i.e. made a bit darker (with a soft edge / grad type ramp) so that the background behind the logo doesn't have peak white which would make the BBC News logo less legible.

I believe so.

However Evan Davies turned up on Working Lunch earlier and was aston'd as BBC Economics Editor as well.
