Sounds like a BBC correspondent got a tip off about it.
Do the Beeb have a helicopter based particularly near Heathrow? I thought it was good luck that during that crash landing the other month they were just lucky in getting there very quickly (before they'd even had chance to put an air exclusion zone up) but to repeat that again today seems more than lucky. They must presumably have a copter very, very close.
Sky must be gutted. Two big incidents on their doorstep in recent weeks and they screw up both of them!

Is anyone else beginning to get irritated by Robert 'Northern Rock' Peston's reporting style?
He is a little too dramatic these days, he's had his scoop so why does he seem to want to report in 'Actorian Tones' on every report.

Interesting that BBC News Online have started embedding video into pages ... I assume this will slowly spread across the news and sport sites over time.

They were filming in T5 on the day of the BA crash, so may have had the helicopter out for that. It was apparently a rehearsal for the Queens opening of T5 today, so they may have used the helicopter for that too.
Think it's more a case of good luck than tip-offs. In both cases they've only got limited coverage before the airspace was shut so they must have been in the area.

YES.....for some reason I find it really hard to sit through one of his reports, or when he's in the studio talking to the news presenter.
I thought I was the only person!
....I'm sure he's a credible journalist, but as you say, his reporting style really grates.

Same here. I thought I was the only one, too, as no-one has mentioned it on here before to my knowledge. The thing that irritates me is the way he talks very slowly and then quickly shouts the next few words in a very aggressive manner. He also throws in the odd laugh every now and then at completely inappropriate places. As you said, I'm sure he knows his stuff but his onscreen style is pretty irritating.

I feel the same! I can barely sit through one of his reports or two-ways any more without wanting to laugh out loud. The tone of his voice varies wildly too; from quite low to very high-pitched and SHOUTING! It's quite distracting because it's difficult to actually listnen to what he's saying - just how he's saying it.

and now they've given him a vignette film for the 29 and 59 mins past the hour 'ad' slot.
