The northern regions regularly opt BBC2 analogue out for The Superleague Show - often at the same time BBC1 is opted out for the Politics Show. Which is mildly amusing seeing the same studio on both channels, lit and dressed slightly differently.

The Super League Show is now networked and not regionalised - it goes out across England, and not just in the North, removing the opting issue.

Well it is still regional on BBC1 North, Sunday afternoons, it gets a networked repeat on Sunday evenings on BBC2.

Yep - that is how they've managed to do it. BBC One regional opt and BBC Two networked (as opts on Two in England are not in favour - as they are only visible to the dwindling analogue audience - and now some regions have no analogue this is not acceptable)

And opts on 2 are not even possible on analogue either in some regions!

I know the sub-regions (Jersey, Oxford and Cambridge) can't and Hull couldn't when it was a sub-region - but I thought it COULD now it was a full region. Tunbridge Wells has a compromised solution for BBC Two opts I believe - crash opts on Two and soft opts on One?

BTW : http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/listings/index.shtml?service_id=4223&day=saturday
confirms they've moved the regional news to 2215 on BBC One so that the teatime news can run on BBC Two.

Was it just me or did Maxine say "Tune in to BBC News 21"?

Gosh, how I hate these simulcasts... Rolling Eyes

Technically, she's right: these days, it is more like News 21 with all the simulcasts!

She completely screwed up that link - also got the time wrong for the news on BBC2.

It depends on the schedules - some weeks it is on BBC2 analogue at lunchtime, then repeated on network late night. This applied to the second show of the current series.

The alternative thunderclap nationals headline bed was used for the weekend evening news then with Jane from the News 24 set. First time its been used on air?

Doesn't it sound much more powerful than the wishy washy one they normally use.

This has been used again yesterday evening (BBC2 Bulletin) and also this evening if anyone is interested.

Well the start of the 10pm bulletin on BBC One wasn't particularly smooth.
