Good lord....Ms Mailtlis has done rather well. The Ten so quick!

Don't forget that Emily is one of the senior presenting team, she does present Newsnight, which is one of the BBC News flagship programmes, so i would say that the Ten is about the same level. She is down to present Newsnight next Monday to Wednesday.

The ten does have many anchors, it just so happens that all 4 are off today. Huw and Fiona are the main anchors with Dermot or Natasha being the stand in. Dermot has been on holiday all week, and Natasha has just had a day off. I find it intresting that none of the main BBC team were in at all today, the 1 was with Jane, 6 with Jane and Ben and 10 with Emily.

On the subject of Emily, i did not find her that bad at all, infact i have seen alot worse, itv news has quite a few bad presenters. Don't forget that Emily has only been presenting the main bulletins for about 3 weeks, so will no doubt improve, and prior to this was on maturnity leave for 6 months, so to some extent is still getting back into the swing of things. This is a new challenge for Emily, but no doubt she will improve, as she gets used to working with the new team. I hope she gets another chance.

I agree with you Jonathan H, she did a good job. I don't get half of you lot. Why is that people like Natasha, Emily and anyone else who has a touch of glamour about them get slated over and over again.

I think people seem to overestimate the impact of the presenters on here! About 99% of the population don't really care about the presenters, as long as they can hear what's being said surely?

If it's a good presenter that would be the case - but a bad presenter will put alot of people off.

I guess a good newsreader would be someone you don't even notice!

I noticed the 12PM BBC News bulletin was a simulcast with Maxine Mawhinney. Do they always use a News 24 presenter to front the short weekend bulletin at midday?

I don't think Moira Stuart is a News 24 reader...

Maxine fronted the midday summary, did she not? I was watching News 24 and she had said something along the lines of ''that's it from me on BBC One'' and then she continued for News 24.

I watched the Midday summary on BBC One, and it was definetly presented by Maxine from the News 24 set.

Yes every week

it's been happening for ages. The midday Saturday summary is always a simulcast with News 24 and that tends to be a Maxine shift. It's because Sportsround is using the Nationals studio.

Not today Sportsround was presented live from Stamford Bridge
