I noticed that as well, they would look good but it seems that the bottom of the 2nd line of the name astons are cropped and it cuts off any characters such as pgj etc. Pretty annoying.

The name astons look a little odd without the Dog and Ticker along the bottom.

Eagle eyed viewers will also have noticed that since the '1' has been coming from N8, one of the cameras has been manned by an operator. Usually with negative results, it has to be said, in comparison to the shots put up from the other cameras. It's evident when the CU of the guest is shown, wobbly frame and also the background is primarily the right hand pod, as opposed to the usual part view of the base of the projector screen, behind the guest's head.
The manned ped has, though, provided some nice slow creeping zooms and ped moves out of the 15' sting.

I think it was just at the toth as there was clearly lack of comunication beetween the gallery and kate.
obiously news readers present it differentley if there is/is not thunder claps kate was clearly under the impression that there was going to be(like normally on the one) but there wasnt leaving it sound rushed and kate sounding very confused.

I don't like Kate Silverton’s presentation style - she rushes through the script.

Never watched World News Today on BBC Four then?
I have, but the One O'clock news has 1. never used them before, and 2. the bottom of the second line appeared to be cropped.

Is the top of the One O'Clock always this messy now it comes from the News24 studio? The opt-out headlines to the regions are really messy, and the lack of thunderclaps is pretty noticeable too. It all looked really odd! The 1 seemed to be using a different version of the headline bed to the opt as well.

They seem to of dumped that idea this week. Doing things rather more simply, looks better IMO.

Yes this is true I dont know why the thunderclaps arent being used but they never have when nationals come from there so it may be technical.

The script for the toth dosent sound right ether without them.
there was a bit of confusion over that at the start of yesturdays one.
And at hall points during the one in N8 they just use the standard headline bed as the comeing up/op out one isnt loaded on I dont think

I thought it was because the headlines are usually rehearsed in N6, in N8 you can't rehearse them so they prefer to keep it simple

Yep, when in N6 they do a run-through of the opening and any other complex sequences in the half hour prior to TX. That's another luxury that will be denied once N24 moves in (with potential onscreen consequences).
That also explains why since 2000, BBC World has used vamps with thunderclaps whereas News 24 hasn't. Unlike N24, World has periods of time off air during which they can rehearse.

I think that the old bbc news 24 headline bed went better with the old bbc national titles than the national headline bed but it still sounds funny without the thunderclaps. The one yesterday seemed to go uncofortable all the way through I think it was the studio though there was a lot of moniter cheking mid story and slow speaking and kate giving that smile during the sting looking right at the tracker
.
And did her wierd laugh during the brazill story
