I was wondering what on earth was going on. I saw it was 1 minute past the hour, didnt see a countdown, nor music.. very wierd.

Why is BBC 1 joining anyway? 4pm for a news bulletin on BBC 1 seems a bit early.

Yea...I was expecting a summary at half time of the rugby, but Peter said there'll be more at 10.10.

I wonder if the late bulletin will come from News 24 as well....?

Perhaps it will have to, as TC7 will already be set up for the Andrew Marr Show and Politics Show tomorrow morning by now.

EDIT:
Good choice of the "helicopter" ident into the news at midday in view of the headlines Laughing

Oh yea, didn't think of that - they'll have to be careful how they hand back to News 24 for the late Saturday bulletin as it usually closes with main presenter and a sport presenter together - use of the pod or main newsreader just reading one more story on News 24? I'm sure they'll work something out Laughing

The news was very messy at 4pm. Also I don't understand why they use a full version of the titles when it's such a short bulletin.

BBC1 seem to be far worse than their commercial rivals too when programmes are running late - ITV1 seem more likely to drop a block of ads to get back on track, but the BBC seem to squeeze as many trailers in, however late they're running.

This simulcasting will no doubt be sorted out better when News24 occupy N6. Perhaps there will be a designated area for the nationals (1, 10 and weekend). Then it would be easier if News24 simply announced "Now we join BBC One for the X News" (whether it's at the TOTH or not).

However, on reflection perhaps News24 should play out a recorded programme (WBR, WNT or HardTalk etc to avoid a simulcast altogether.

Really though they should just ditch the simulcasts at the weekends when they're at such random times - especially when the BBC keep telling you that News 24 is a priority, yet still has to accommodate the needs of BBC1.

It really though needs to be a case that News 24 opt out for the BBC1 bulletins, rather than BBC1 opting in to News 24.

How did that work on N24? What did they do for 10 minutes, or is that a delay?

Chris was in the left hand pod for the first 10 minutes before handing to Simon.

All seems a bit odd to me. So were the same stories read out twice this hour in the first ten minutes?

Yea I think there were some stories that were repeated. Not 100% sure though - it seems very disjoined for News 24 viewers...I know people don't typically watch it for hours on end, but even still -I guess it can't be helped though with Sunday AM (Edit: Andrew Marr Show Embarassed ha /Politics Show already set up in TC7.
