The One o'clock News has had a very notable change in style this week IMO with the shift to News 24.

Though the reports are no different, the presentation is scripted much more in the way of a rolling news channel with rather informal Newsround style shifts from one story to the next - and it doesn't seem quite right IMO.

I noticed that, too, Brekkie. It doesn't seem to have that polished feel to it. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with the integration of Nationals and News 24.

Odd - because it is the same team writing and producing it as last week. Although it has moved to News 24's studio - it is currently still produced by the BBC One team. The move to News 24 producing it hasn't taken place yet...

Wonder if the lack of screens, and more uniform look, combined with the continuous news background is influencing perceptions?

You just sit through a few minutes of it and you'll notice it's not quite right.

Even the other day with Sophie when she did the headlines it sounded more like the BBC's 8pm news for thick people. So things aren't going to improve when the BBC's newsreader for thick people takes over next week.

I can't say I've really noticed anything different, and in fairness the 8pm bulletin isn't that bad now - it's nothing like when Kaplinsky did the trial.

Sian's just done the 8pm - and although I really do not like the 8pm update, Sian managed to do it without being patronising and condescending.

Yea, I like Sian on 'straight' bulletins - she's the best female presenter on 'Breakfast' although it's hard to be a bit patronising on a show like that - I'm glad she's officially the second presenter on the 6...although I feel she's far better than George -better delivery, better rapport with the audience etc,

However, I am also impressed by Ellie Crisell - it's good she's getting the chance to move to 'proper' news - occasionally on News 24 and sometimes the 8pm bulletin. It's good she's being used more - she's improved a lot since she first started on News 24

Don't forget Ellie Crisell worked in 'grown up' news before reporting on beached whales!

Wasn't she on Tyne Tees, before the 2002/3 Network-Wide Corporate Rebrand of Doom?

It's always been the case IMO that George isn't suited to the Six. His profile is much more suited to the Ten o'clock News, and IMO the sensible thing for the BBC to do would be to put Fiona on the Six (with Sian as cover) and then George as cover for Huw on the 10pm news.

News 24 playing a seemingly endless amount of trails from the end of the weather at 3.56pm after Your News, waiting for BBC ONE to join. Sissons appeared at about 4.01pm explained and started with a summary of the news before heading into a countdown as BBC ONE joined. All very messy, especially as the countdown music could be heard before the titles rolled on BBC ONE.
