can I ask how will the move of Neighbours to Five effect Six oclock news?

is there a chance of a dip in the ratings?

Well they are replacing neighbours with the Weakest Link which gets better ratings than Neighbours, so the ratings could actually go up.

Where did you get that info that it beats Neighbours?

Well the handover from the 1 to the regions went smoothly enough from N6 today: if you were watching on BBC One!

If you watched on News24 it wasn't so good. Sophie handed over to Ben Brown (sat next to her) - after she gave some shifty looks over the delay to a quick sting. He continued to recap the headlines, to the additional noise of lots of movement in the background (no doubt Sophie leaving).

Did Ben present solo until 2 like after the Six or was he joined again by his 11-2 co-presenter when Sophie had left?

On average Neighbours gets between 2.5 and 2.7 million from 5.35, whereas The Weakest Link gets between 2.7 and 3.1 million from 5.15.

Not sure if its the lighting but Huw looks awfully tired tonight! I take it the ten is beating News at Ten in the ratings still?

They just played the 1999 headline bed in a report including an archived headline sequence from last January, sounds much more authoritative compared to the current nightclub trance, which lacks that impact the original 1999 bed had.

Also... is this a new part of the background thats been added as the set is larger than N6?

Yep - the 1735 Neighbours is usually beaten by the 1715 Weakest Link. However BARB merge the two daily airings of Neighbours into one combined rating ISTR - so that when the ratings are published it can look as if Neighbours is still rating higher - but this is the result of the merging of ratings.

Didn't Barb stop mergeing the ratings for repeats a few years ago! the differences between overnights and published figures is usually due to final figures being compiled across the actual running time of the programme, rather than its scheduled time, and because the final figures include those who time shift the programme.

Seem to be about six different BBC News threads on the go at the moment and I'm losing track of where I'm posting and what goes where, but this should fit here - apologies if already answered.

Simple question - is the Ten o'clock News still doing it's headline recap after the regional news, and if so is Newsnight starting a little bit later to allow them too?

No the headline recap has been dropped.

On BBC London News they now do the plug for Newsnight, so i assume the other regions are too.
