Whatever they do, I wish they'd take a leaf out of News at Ten's book and give us lots to go on before the launch, rather than leaving it until the day like they usually do.
I think the amount of media coverage that News at Ten has got today warrants what they have done by making stuff available via their website, on YouTube etc.
Excuse me but when was the last time they
watched
the Ten O'Clock News???

All the News At Ten material has been released because so many people are interested in the revival of a well known, iconic brand.
The odd tweak to BBC News is hardly worth them releasing early for the sake of a few excitable anoraks. Let's face it, 'New Astons for BBC Regional News' is never going to get a full page article on page 5 of the Daily Mirror.
We've already seen a most bizarre version of the Breakfast titles carrying an alternative BBC News logo, after all (it's almost obscured in the animation, and shows the 'News' text in sentence case DIN, rather than the correct version which uses all-caps Gill Sans; both versions of the titles are still played out).
The BBC News logo is now almost a full ten years old, and while presentation has changed many times in the last decade, the logo has remained the same. Frankly, I very much hope that they don't alter the logo at all - but I can see them trying to make BBC News more 'accessible' with some wretched new 'lifestyle' look.
Well, whatever happens, it will be fascinating to watch these changes unravel.
From what I hear most of the changes will involve an attempt to 're-coordinate' the regions into a more consistent look.
The biggest changes to national services will come in N6 where a mid-life renovation will take place to accommodate News24. A new desk and a second 'area' with another baking tray, a podium and bar stools will be created so that the studio is more versatile for N24's sport and business segments.
So some needed changes but don't expect too much because, as we all know, they don't have loads of money to play with ATM.

I was about to mention that. It doesn't say much for the researcher on MediaGuardian
Is your sig image a clue - navy blue in with the red?
Erm no. I was told a few months ago that it would no long be Black White and Red, but Grey/Silver white and red.
Is that just the straps, or the titles as well?
I'd like to see perhaps them using grey and white for normal straps, reserving red for breaking news. If there was depth to the greys, i.e. they looked metallic (a bit like the old Apple brushed metal), then it would look pretty cool - especially in HD.
