Well we have known for a while that the regions were due a new look, and new Vizrt graphics - and there was a suggestion I believe that BBC1 bulletins mya be tweaked slightly in anticipation of News at Ten - although I suspected that they might brand the titles with "TEN O'CLOCK NEWS" at the bottom rather than the number 10 in the globe Wink

The BBC ... plans to unveil a new onscreen look for its regional and national news bulletins in the spring

From this article about News at Ten

Well that wasn't expected. Major or minor anyone?

Major for regions (new titles and graphics i think), minor for the nationals.

Sounds like 1999 again, with all aspects of BBC News is to get a new look.

With all these studio and simulcast changes, perhaps this will be the end of the red globe ribbon look, and even the end to David Lowe's musical opus!

Quote:
It will receive a new look in the spring as part of a long-planned revamp for all its national and regional news outlets, on television, radio and the web. It coincides with the merger of the BBC's radio, television and online newsrooms and the decision to produce the main news bulletins from the same studio as News 24.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but does this mean all Nationals will be coming from the News 24 studio, or is News 24 moving into the Nationals studio?

AIUI, the latter.

So all getting a NWT look then?

Well they've kept this very quiet! If it's true of course. When it was asked of several insiders here if there'd be much of a change, they seemed to say 'no'.

I'd like to see a complete change, maybe even a move away from red/white/black and totally new music. With the barco walls in N6 and TC7 giving a huge amount of flexibility with regard to colours and designs, they can do pretty much what they want.

A move that, I suppose, would provide News 24 with more newsroom space, after the meger with radio and online. Although not having that 'live' feel could lead to a loss of rhythm and pace, pretty essential for a rolling news channel.

Doubt it.

I think this is all a bit silly - News 24 only rebranded just over a year ago, along with the nationals. My opinion is revamp the other regions in the same way as NWT and just leave News 24 and the others alone until they move to Broadcasting House or (if that's delayed yet longer) for another couple of years.

Whys it silly? Its a bigger rebrand though and it hasn't even been a year yet since they changed.
