I'm sorry, but a couple of years ago, a really nice pic of a Christmas tree on the screen (was 2002 IIRC) and a Merry Christmas from Anna Ford was far classier!

I've to say though, the overall effect looks pretty "cheap"... Rolling Eyes

Do they always switch those overhead light boxes of at the end of the ten? And do they fade them off in view or what? I've never even noticed it before. Shocked

Not exactly subtle! Should have had him flying across the backdrop.

Slightly more subtle tonight, lights dimmed and snow falling, still not necessary on a News programme though Rolling Eyes

Good grief, what a load of humbugs we have on the Forum!

Having read the comments on here about the festive news presentation elements, I was braced for something grossly inappropriate. Having seen the video, I really can't see what all the fuss is about - I think it's really nice that they even made the effort to add a couple of one-off pres elements, however cheesy they may be.

Honestly, this place is turning into Newswatch with the way members of the public make entire mountain ranges out of anthills!

I agree, BBC LDN. I thought it was quite a nice touch. It's not as if many people will have been watching at 2320 on Christmas Eve - given that it was so late, I think it was perfectly acceptable. Earlier on, they just wished viewers a Merry Christmas, at a time when more people would have been watching.
