Seriously, I'm not the only one who's been bored to death by these rota discussions for literally years - how is it that we're no closer to finding an acceptable way to group presenter discussions together so that the rest of us don't have to wade through this crap?

Because previous attempts at creating threads especially for presenter rota discussions was filled up by people posting especially to complain that it was full of presenter discussions! For examplesee here.

much better that the discussions about the 'strap' and the floor markings, and the countdown etc.

without decent presenters, people wouldn't watch the programme so they are, besides the news itself one of the most important aspects of the programme. Decent partnerships can make or break viewing figures.

Sian and BIll are my favs but i also like louise and joanna.

Why do you think TV Forum was created?

I think it would be helpful to have a moderator-originated thread (not a sticky, just an ordinary thread) making clear that rota discussion, fantasy presenter schedules etc should be confined to that thread, and with moderators also making an effort to ensure that any troll-baiting comments in that thread - by people who simply wish to mock presenter discussion - will not be tolerated.

This would be such a simple solution to put into effect - in offering a 'safe house' for those who are genuinely thrilled by such discussion, and relief for the majority of us who find such discussion tedious in the extreme - and an effective one if properly executed, that I simply cannot comprehend why it hasn't already been done.

Both presenters, including partnerships, and presentation, including graphics, are important to the news, and both should feature on this forum.

BBC LDN, that's a great idea. Alternatively, as has been suggested in the past, flagging entries as 'rota' and having the option to hide such posts would work well.

Either way, something needs to be done.

It's controversial but there is always the option to scroll down past the rota comments! Yea I know this might be difficult for people but it takes a lot less effort than typing a further comment to moan about them! Laughing

Yes, very radical, but there's being annoying and being impossible - there's literally 75% of the thread taken up with what most find utter boredom in text form - so often it's more than scrolling past it, rather loading up whole pages full of it.

I assume you took that from the RT? Hopefully more reliable than last year's attempt by them, when they said Geaorge would be on with Natasha every day! Looks more realistic though.

Interesting article in this week's Broadcast about the BBC holding its nerve when News At Ten comes back ... but there are some interesting quotes from Peter Horrocks the head of the multi-media newsroom.
There is a line saying ..

The broadcaster is planning to make a "low key tweak" to the Ten O'Clock News and all its news bulletins from April, as part of a drive to use the BBC News brand consistently across all its journalism. Details are still being worked out but the bulletins would maintain the traditional globe and red colouring, Horrocks added.
Instead of competing on content, the BBC will capitalise on it's "consistent" approach to news.

So the end to individual branding of the 1, 6 and 10 (and possibly the 5?) and News 24 becoming just BBC News?
