Thanks for that clip, James. I'm still annoyed by the BBC's treatment of Moira. That clip proves that she was a capable newsreader with a clear, confident delivery. That's a lot more than can be said for some newsreaders on the BBC at the moment whose deliveries leave a lot to be desired.

I still see Pesch on BBC World, hosting his weekly programme, "Peschardt's People'. Interestingly, his wife appears to be the on-location manager. Good programme, generally.
Also interestingly, it's one year since the last appearance of a certain lady on BBC Network News. Link:

This really shows your ignorance about how the requirements of a job can change over 20 years.

How so? Surely someone speaking to a television audience in 2007 needs to be just as clear and understandable as someone speaking in 1987? I'm not sure that I follow your argument.

Its not that that bothered me. It was all those stories about her personal life that put me off.

I'm not sure I'd call Moira clear. She sounds like she's speaking through her nose.

I personally think Sophie Rayworth presents so much better when she's alongside someone. When she was on Breakfast with Jeremy, or the Six with George, she came across as very relaxed and professional. But when she's on the One I find her so stilted it's unbelievable.

The end of the Six was unusual today. George was promoting the new Your News feature on the show, where people can email in stories (sounds like a bad idea to me, especially if it's going to be like the Your News show on News 24), and we saw a shot of him and the desk superimposed over some video footage so that you couldn't see the rest of the studio at all. Also, is it just me, or did they miss out the weather, I can't remember seeing it?
