Oops...someone forgot to press play on the head bed on the six.
Which gave the regions a bit of a difficulty whether to play it out on their bit or not. Leeds didn't, Hull did. Perhaps the latter had pre-recorded their headlines.
George Alagiah is probally off ill at short notice as he usually does the N24 news at 7pm. The current presenter, I don't remember his name, and forgive me if this sounds racist because I'm not, the coloured guy was a little sloppy, he's filling in I think and he whispered to his co-presenter, 'camera 3,' thinking it wouldnt be picked up during the headlines.
The 6 is a mess tonight...sloppy presenters, sloppy camera work.
This really is a poor excuse for a bulletin from the worlds biggest news organisation.
Yes, it was quite dreadful tonight. I don't think Ben Brown in particular is very suited to the
Six
. What has he done in the past?
Ben Brown has been a reporter for many years now. He's done relief weekend presenting work for BBC World since c. 2000 and took over News 24 Tonight last year. Quite how he's managed to get on the Six so quickly is beyond me. There are other, more experienced presenters that come to mind who would have been more suited. It's a far cry from the Six of the Virtual Era, when it was presented by the heavyweights of the newsroom.
i must admit im getting tired of the bbc 6 now, it seems so predictable! i think what they need is a new presenting pair or even a new presenter on their own, perhaps introduce somekind of stool/raised news desk instead of having them stand up at the begining.
I have to agree with most of you lot on here, the six is dreadful compared to the ten.

I think the ten is the only one to always be presented by the heavyweights now.
One thing that gets me is why the six need two newsreaders : :
I think this is one of the problem with the show at the moment, it doesn't need 2 newreaders, one will do. Also the 2 newreaders never have any chemistry, there presenting together feels cold as they never talk to each other.
Also, get rid of the special report at 6.15: I never liked it as most of it is not special, just cheap headline news. And do less standing up like the ten and one.
Well they only introduced the second presenter in reaction to the ITV Evening News doing the same - the difference being though it worked well for ITV, but not so for the BBC.
I think also the main problem is recently at least there hasn't been a fixed "B-Team". ITV News viewers are as familar with Katie, Nina, Steve and Geraint as they are with Mark and Mary - but with the BBC it often feels like someone doing work experience.
I think back to one (and not Kaplinsky) - with Huw joining the team when they anchor from on-location - as he's usually there for News 24 and the 10pm news anyway, so sending George as well is basically a waste of our money.
I agree that the two-presenter format isn't working for the Six at the moment. It is odd because between 1984 and 1999, it did work. Although it can be argued that the Virtual Era format was a bit ridiculous. Back then they had two presenters but one (usually Anna Ford or Martyn Lewis) was the primary presenter (who did the headlines sequence themselves) and the other was reduced to a secondary role. It sounds odd, but it did work.
Something is definitely missing from the BBC1 News now. I like Huw and George - they are the current heavyweights. I'm probably going to get shot down in flames for this but I feel that they've brought in too many young presenters too quickly. I like seeing young presenters on News 24 but for me, BBC1 should be where the very best, most experienced presenters can be found. Apart from Huw and George, I don't think any of the other current BBC1 presenters match up to Anna Ford, Martyn Lewis, Peter Sissons, Michael Buerk, John Humphrys et al.

I have to agree with that it works very well for ITV Evening News (for some reason I have tried to work out but can't) but not the Six.
There was a fixed "B-Team" under Sophie/George period which was Sian and Bill.
