HO
Please - in the age of BBC budgets and saving, why move Kate Silverton to present a <2 minute bulliten??? Most likely it will be:
George stays on 2 hours (though unlikely what with WNT)
Huw/ Fiona on the ten present it (though would they fit with the new 'target audience'???
Joanna/ Ben Brown from News 24
Jon Sopel/ Louise Minchin from 24 or Chris Eaklin? Could even be from another part of BBC News (like World or Newsnight (
))
but what I think we can assume is that they won't be bringing in anyone who wouldn't be there otherwise!
Also, I doubt very much Louise gets Breakfast and Sian the one - what with Dermot leaving they're surely going to want the rest of the team to stay as 'samely' as possible??? I think it's most likely:
Carrie takes over News 24 mornings, Kate on the One mon-thurs, Louise relief for Breakfast and the One and Sian on breakfast
Sian on Breakfast, Louise on the one and Kate/ Jane Hill reliefing on the one
Or totally random presenters for the one to save money!
And Emily - wouldn't be suprised if she gets a regular slot from this, even if only until Sophie gets back. I doubt the Beeb wants to pay someone like Emily to float about the BBC and only seem to be on every now and again.
I think it's very likely as well that the 8pm slot will be random presenters - again to save money
EDIT: Or what about Ellie Crisell - she's more than qualified to read the news in a patronising way otherwise she wouldn't anchor Newsround!!!

I agree there, though i don't think that the ITV Studio was built with a news channel in mind. Ideally it would have been designed with more than one presention area.
With the current news 24 set they have multiple areas, they could easily have a sports update at quarter to the hour in one of the pods, and then have the news 24 presenter in the other pod for the headline, or even have the 1/6/10 presenter read out the headlines as a coming up feature.

I can see why they want to merge Nationals & N24 operations into the one studio, but all I'm thinking of how the ITV News Channel dealt with a similar situation.
Most of the time, they were in the Theatre of News, but being kicked out roughly 30mins before an ITV1 simulcast so it could be prepared for, & decamping to a CSO studio, or the London regional studio instead.*
It looked daft, so how would the Beeb cope?
* By the way, did any of the London ITV1 regional bulletins ever come from the CSO studio, with ITVNC remaining in the normal London studio, while ITV1 were in the Theatre of News?

If they need to decamp then one presenter will stay in the area to the right (on screen) of the main one to either do indepth analysis or headlines. It wouldn't look that odd on screen, after all. Apart from branding and faces I'd be surprised if many viewers noticed a huge change between regular News 24 and the 1/10.

This confuses me - why have all three Nationals having different... errr... 'agendas' or presentation?
Surely they could just make more of their reports earlier in the day and give the six the same gravitas/ style of the ten??? I understand that some news might change between six and ten but the majority wouldnt!
I'd like to see Sophie, George and Huw/Fiona do more reporting - like the One O'clock presenter does sometimes. Surely, if all three did theirs when they first got in off information from BBC News, they could put it all together, all record them before 1, all three shown during the one, then Huw's and George's could be used (if Sophie's news had changed) on the six and ten. That way, you're looking at three news stories for the One and News 24!
Just out of interest (and I forget which thread this one is)...
how much of Breakfast's output is put together by the presenters? Do they put together their own headlines and stuff or is it very similar to News 24 (which annoys the hell out of me when Simon on a morning is reading exactly the same lines and Ben at night!)
Who produces the lines for News 24?
How long do Breakfast presenters stay after Breakfast and how long are News 24 presenters there for?
That is all!
