The BBC are closing (or more accurately, taking out of regular service) one of their four current news studios, and merging their radio, TV and online newsrooms.
The current BBC World newsroom/studio/gallery will cease to be used daily. BBC World will move into the newsroom, studio and gallery currently used by News 24 - and get a relaunch (financed by BBC Worldwide not the licence fee) as part of this. This will be the final change.
Before this move, BBC News 24's newsroom, studio and gallery will move. The newsroom is merging with the BBC One newsroom (and also merging with the BBC Online and BBC Radio newsrooms) BBC News 24 will come from the studio and gallery currently producing the bulletins on BBC One. News 24 will broadcast from this studio during the hours of 0830 and 0100 weekdays and 0600 and 0100 at weekends. The One O'Clock and Ten O'Clock BBC One bulletins will remain in this studio and gallery as well once News 24 have moved in.
The joint News 24 / World overnight service is moving to the BBC World studio.
Breakfast and the Six O'Clock News will move into the studio and gallery currently used for Working Lunch, Hardtalk, Newsround and Newsnight, and fill in the gaps. This studio will have some technical upgrades over Christmas. (I expect shows like Newswatch and the new 8pm bulletin will also move into this studio) Breakfast and the Six O'Clock News are expected to move into this studio in January once these upgrades have happened.
The current BBC One studio will be taken out of service early next year for a period of refurbishment and to allow preparations to be made for News 24 to move-in. It is likely that during this period the One and Ten will come from alternative locations.
This was all made in public announcements or widespread e-mails to BBC staff that have since been circulated. None of it is particularly confidential. For the usual security reasons I haven't used the studio names/numbers, though most people here know them

Wouldn't bank on that for definite - as moving the Ten to the current News 24 studio (with its very compromised sound and lighting) isn't the same as doing it from the future News 24 studio (which is where the Ten comes from currently).

I'm guessing the alternative location used for the One and Ten while there studio is being refurbished will be News 24 - as they simulcast now and after the changes will be using he same studio anyway.

I wonder if they'll start branding it as BBC World properly then. I don't see why they don't do this for the toth bulletins as it would explain the different agenda.
I suspect it will remain branded as BBC News - as it is a joint service, not an entirely BBC World production. Just because it will be coming from the BBC World studio and gallery doesn't mean it will be entirely produced by BBC World. (The BBC World studio will be able to run on lower staffing levels than new News 24 studio and gallery, which will get increased staffing nearer the levels of the BBC One bulletins)

No - it will take a lot longer than that to rebuild News 24s studio and gallery after News 24 have moved out before BBC World can move in.
The thing to remember is that all the current News studio galleries at TV Centre are between 8 and 11 years old and quite a lot of the kit is running out of hours. As each studio is taken out of service, some of this kit is going to need to be replaced.

So noggin, do you think BBC World will be in N8 by the end of Feb/early March?
