I guess those who claim the BBC is dumbing down aren't crazy after all.

I saw that- it sounded so stupid. Georges delivery didn't help.

This is probably the wrong thread, but I couldn't see an NI thread currently active..............I was watching BBC One NI just so that I could see the end credits to Neighbours without the ECP (which sure enough I did - I don't normally watch Neighbours) but left it on through the SIX and saw these great titles into Newsline. Why can't we all have nice titles like those - I am very jealous!!!! Shocked

I don't like them - they're too yellow and have nothing to do with Northern Ireland apart from a map. North West Tonight have the best titles at the moment.

One thing is for sure - Reporting Scotland has the WORST titles at the moment - and probably will carry this title should we discuss such matters this time next year (or year after that) !! Moan over Smile

Indeed they are horrible, the 1999 look worked far better for BBC Newsline, these titles looked like they took five minutes to do.

Seconded for North West Tonight, simply because no other Region has got the look they've got and the titles seem more original.

Agreed, the NWT titles/music are excellent. I like the way they use proper local images and how they change them depending on the time of day. The music is just brilliant - a nice variation on the BBC News theme by David Lowe there. To begin with, I thought it was a tad on the sombre side but having listened to it for over a month now, it really is very suitable.

What's the matter with all the dodgy camera work today on the One O'Clock News?

It's all over the place!

Look how the screen has gone black on the left! Confused

I wasn't watching on Tuesday (damned night shifts) but I suspect it was just a graphics failure that left the camera operators a bit dazed and playing catch up. You see it more on the 1 as they tend to use the crane and wraparound/big board more.

It was a VT playing on the left screen and they left it running too long, then the camera was going all over the place to try and get to the picture on the right in shot!

Crane? There's no crane or jib in N6.

Very Happy

Just what I was going to say.

Yep - no crane in that studio, though unlike News 24 and World, the peds are partially manned for some bulletins, meaning that the cameras can track/crab, and elevate/depress together, which can still look effective, though not as versatile as a jib or crane.

(Confusingly you may hear directors ask for a ped to "crane up" or "crane down" - even though they aren't actually a crane...)
