I don't think this has been linked to but it's a clip of a few bits of continuity from the day - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mDt1cYkoc4 including Nicholas Witchell and John Ketley presenting from a cupboard and Ian McCaskill getting a battering the following day.

Not just a cupboard - the Broom Cupboard!

I'm really encouraged by the news that George Aligiah is to be the sole presenter of the Six. I hope this will add more seriousness to the programme. I will certainly be more likely to watch now.

Ian McCaskill, brilliant!

"We didn't tell the ambulance people."

Pause

"They didn't ask us too."

I suspected we might see a single-headed Six but I'm not sure George is the best person. I'd rather have had Dermot presenting who has always shone whenever he's presented. What also surprised me is that George said (earlier in the year) he wanted to do more reporting, as well as his BBC World programme, yet now he's got the Six to himself.

Has anyone else seen the new bbc.co.uk/news promo? "updated every minute". Quite a good mantage of the BBC News correspondants around the world adding to the site.

If it is the one with them all typing into various devices then yes, I caught it last night on BBC4 I think!

There are a few new shots of clips that are used in the countdowns. I think it will go down well with internatiional viewers too.

And of course the tapping is the BBC News music - isn't it?

"It's where you go to get better when you're ill" - the opening of tonight's Six O'Clock news.

I guess those who claim the BBC is dumbing down aren't crazy after all.

They'll have to change it to "update every hour" soon I guess then!

Thank yourself that it didn't open with George and Sian in the CBeebies Bedtime Hour set with a Fimbles DVD in hand.

The new promo is very impressive, but I think the soundtrack should have some more of the actual BBC News music in it. At the moment it sounds a bit empty, with just the rhythm of the theme being tapped out.
