Isn't is just a natural feature of the news at lunchtime though that most stories are developing as the show is on air, so hence the amount of live OBs with reporters.

The more crafted reports are left until the evening when the story has developed and can be analysed more effectively.

BBC Breakfast begins at 6am (I think?) It IS acceptable for them to be constructing such a 'live location reporting' programme as there isnt that much time, as you say, to craft proper reports.

BUT - the One O'Clock News surely has the timespan to craft some items? A good 7 hours in there to get something out?

But surely the answer is in the title - BBC News 24 ? Stories develop throughout the whole 24 hours not just when people are waking up in the morning - just to give the editors time to file their report ready for the 6pm programmes! How did they manage years back when they had to edit on film and had no live OB trucks? Surely technology has advanced enough to allow even the BBC to get a few reports edited before lunchtime?

That'll be interesting. Did anyone notice that Emily's trademark back shuffling of her papers allowed us to get a good look at how the scripts are printed? From what I saw it's quite big, well spaced writing down the right hand side of the paper.

Scripts are pretty standard across the industry with the actual script down the right hand side with VT, ULAY, camera directions, straps etc. down the right hand side.

No he anchored the Sunday 10 from Beruit last year, before Huw got there the next day.

It does seem the BBC are testing alot of new faces on the nationals recently, for example Emily on the 1, Mishal doing the weekend news and Ben on the 6. Plus Louise doing the sunday bulletins a few weeks ago. What seems odd today is that Emily has been on the 1, when Jane has been in doing News 24. So does this quash the earlier rumour that Jane is the 2nd presenter for the 1 o'clock news, she has not been on the nationals as much of late. The BBC may be trying to find a new role for Emily, afterall it seems Joanna has permanently replaced her for the evenings on News 24, as Emily has now been back for 3 weeks and has made an appearnace in a variety of daytime slots. Plus she is not on Newsnight that often due the to the volume of presenters. I do think however that Emily has done very well on the 1 this week, and hope she continues to make regular appearaces on the programme.

Well those complaining that the screens aren't well utilised enough certainly had their prayers answered in the Six. Loved the big globe that appeared in front of Natasha and Ben too.

Does seem to be a lot of mixing...although...i could have sworn Sophie did the One once this week...many I didn't focus properly though.

Also seems strange that Mishal keeps making apperances at the weekend...i'd have thought that Matthew or someone from News 24 would have shown up instead...not complaining...do like her.

All these try outs for the One...makes me think that in fact it'll just be whoever is available to cover when Sophie is off.

There is likely to be another reshuffle next year when BBC News moves back to Broadcasting House, I would have thought.

Personally I would like the Six to move back to single-headded, perhaps with Sophie 3 days and Huw 2 days, keep Huw on the 10 for a further 2 days, with Dermot on for the other 3. Mishal/Emily for the 1. Bill and Sian on Breakfast with Ben and Louise on Weekends. Then Susanna and Moira for the weekend bulletins. Would fit in with the BBC's cost cutting at least...
