Streamline unessersary shows on both tv and radio, give Jonathan, Ross a pay cut, pension off Wogan and Brucie and stop paying 'tallent' ridiculous amounts of money for doing so little.

Why axe Wogan - he is one of the most popular broadcasters on Radio Two, and is a significant reason for it being such a popular network. He has remained pretty loyal to the BBC for decades (and only did his Terry and Gabby show on Five when the BBC allowed his TV contract to lapse) and has to be much better value than Wossy...

I can't speak for radio, but on TV in the last year he has shown that he is no longer a capable TV presenter - certainly for the big live events for which he is famous. He even makes Brucie look capable.

In any other industry people are pensioned off when they're no longer up to the job - but retirement seems to be a dirty word in TV.

So one mistake on Making Your Mind Up means he's no longer capable?

I take it you've never made a mistake.

I'd like to see Brucie do as good a job commentating on the live Eurovision Song Contest as Terry does... If you axed him from that live TV gig there would be an outcry.

The Making Your Mind Up cock-up was unfortunate (and not directly Terry's fault) AIUI he saw the wrong cue card in the floor managers hand - i.e. he saw the FM arranging the cards rather than holding them up. Regrettable certainly, but not a reason to retire.

Move the good bbc 3 programmes to bbc 1 to prevent more rpeats

I'd take Wogan and Brucie over the likes of Vernon Kay, Davina and Kate Thornton any day. Rolling Eyes

I don't see a problem with Wogan, it's Ross which is an issue, he does what, 3 programmes, a chat show which is past it's best and could sit equally well on any channel, a Film show which is on at Midnight and hardly anybody watches, and a weekly radio show

Today's Evening Standard says that Dateline London and Head 2 Head are likely to be axed.

Get rid of stupid '2 hour shows' on BBC Local Radio, one that comes to mind is WM's early show, 5am - 7am, why can they not start Breakfast show at 6am, like all other stations, why must we have 2 hours of tripe from some ex Trafficlink / Metro Networks cast off.

I'm not rising to the bait, so you've failed! Smile

Nah, I would've had a rant about Mattie slagging off Mollie Green otherwise! Laughing

Its ironic, just as BBC News 24 has become the "most watched news channel" in the last year, these cuts are happening, why from news? Its just going to make News 24 worse... why not save money by cutting costs from other things, perhaps BBCi or something? The BBC is known around the world for its news programming, why ruin that? Why is BBC World being effected too, thats stupid... if programmes shown on BBC World face cuts then why not use its revenue to support them, and keep them running. News 24 could save money too if they broadcasted in a format like BBC World, and perhaps simulcasted some programmes, i.e. Sport Today and World Business Report.. Confused

It would be difficult to simulcast Sport Today as the BBC does not have the UK rights to a lot of the videos used in the programme.
