I suspect not, there is usually an exception for the breakfast shift

It isn't overly practical to require Chris Evans and the Today programme to hit a half hour point every hour during the breakfast period. It would probably cause the Today programme a lot of grief as they often run a little early or more often a little late.

And Evans' radio show is carefully choreographed anarchy, half hour, (and TOH) hand-overs would stifle the flow.

Actually, I'm old enough to remember the early 80s, and BBC local radio radio stations opting into Radio 2 for the 08:00 news during Wogan's tenure.

Private Eye recently reported that since James Harding started more staff have been employed at management level.

Also someone mist out the point Radio 2 and 4 will now share the same news....

Looking at the press release, the whole of James Harding's speech and Radio Today, I'm afraid I can't see any reference to this anywhere.

I presume the 830-11 and 2-5 shifts will be single headed...there will be no need for a early evening presenter either...I guess you could count both presenters of the 11-2 shift too as Victoria is coming in...

Surely they have to get rid of the presenter that just comes in to do the BBC One weekend bulletins (NC presenter can do it) and stop bringing in Ellie Crissell just for the 8pm update (unless she is gonna present this new strand aimed at younger viewers on the NC)

I presume seeing as Matthew has been moved to world the daytime schedule will see Simon am, Victoria lunchtime, Jane pm and Clive in the evening.

So are you saying that the NC presenter isn't entitled to a break? That's what they get when the national bulletins are on!!

A few questions;
There seems to be many BBC News presenters who just present certain bulletins like ellie crissell. This must cost the licence payer a fortune for just a few hours/minutes work. Why does this happen ?

What is wrong with having World/News Channel presenters being on BBC 1 presenting the main news ? (rather than changing them before a BBC 1 News starts)

When is the messy looking NC set going to be changed ? It has gone down in history as the worst ever !
i.e. cheap, dated, distracting, fault ridden, confusing, small, tacky, gimmicky, the list could go on.
Does one person decide how these things look or is it done by a committee ?
Or did they take lessons from a programme in the nineties called 'The Day Today' - it was not real you know.

How much TV Licence money are these 'creative' people paid ?

When will the tired countdown be changed ?
Rather than having presenters and BBC news directors(!!?) posing 'action' shots, lets have some REAL not faked footage from the BBC.

Hopefully when the up and coming changes happen the BBC will keep Simon and move both Sophie's to a broadcast region where I cannot see them.

You do know right that they don't just turn up to just present bulletins, The News at Ten presenter will be there from about Eleven in the morning and just because they aren't on screen doesn't mean they're not working.

What is wrong with having World/News Channel presenters being on BBC 1 presenting the main news ? (rather than changing them before a BBC 1 News starts)

Nobody has said there is anything wrong with it, they're just saying that the luxury of the BBC One Bulletins offers either a changeover or a break for NC presenters, who at the weekend are doing up to 8 hours straight. Plus the afternoon presenter usually presents the Lunchtime Saturday Bulletin.

When is the messy looking NC set going to be changed ? It has gone down in history as the worst ever !

Is it messy? Yes some view the tracks as messy but actually they look pretty tidy if you look at it, they aren't like the backs of cameras from conventional studios with huge cables trailing along the floor.
Worst Ever? Have you forgotten the period it spent in N6.

i.e. cheap, dated, distracting, fault ridden, confusing, small, tacky, gimmicky, the list could go on.

Cheap - It's the BBC, they can't spend too much or the Mail shouts at them. Plus it doesn't look pretty cheap.
Dated - Are you serious? It looks more high tech than most other news studios.
Distracting - Not really, most of the time the Newsroom backdrop is out of focus so unless you are trying to get distracted, I find it hard to get distracted.
Fault Ridden - OK It has some errors every now and again but then again, OK not as often, but most studios have some form of error every now and again. Camera faults are at max once a day.
Confusing - How can a set be confusing, it is now way near as confusing as those old Optical Illusion sets from the 80s.
Tacky - Tacky “Showing poor taste or quality”. I think you might want to rethink you word choice.
Gimmicky - It is a bit, but not to the extent of Sky’s ridiculous massive screen.

Does one person decide how these things look or is it done by a committee ?

The TV Company will subcontract out set design to a design specialist, thanks to Producer Choice, such as BDA (who have a monopoly over News set design in the UK)
Or did they take lessons from a programme in the nineties called 'The Day Today' - it was not real you know.

You know how on the Mail Online people who reference Orwell’s great 1984 is a perfect example of people who either haven’t watched it or didn’t fully get the gist of it? I’m beginning to feel that, that is how Chris Morris’s amazing The Day Today is now being used, is being used on this forum. If you are using it to critique Sky News’s general OTT graphics, set, music etc. then you are probably justified but the BBC is comparatively minimalist compared to Sky News.
How much TV Licence money are these 'creative' people paid ?

It depends on the work they do, thanks to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 you can try an request it, although the BBC will probably assume it is from the Mail.
When will the tired countdown be changed ?

What the popular, energetic, adrenalin pumping countdown sequence? Which is probably my favourite in image and one of best in music (Sorry but 2005 and 2007 Updates were better).

This post just eeks of the kind of people who go when is there going to be change, this is tired, change it now and then the minute the BBC change it you’re going ‘waste of license fee’ and angrily commenting on the MailOnline.

This was the best set I think they've had in N6 (in my opinion of course). Perfectly matched with News 24 and all the regions, but each with their own slightly different setup, very nice.

Edit: Mod Edit: You're going off topic Bail, stop it, Sorry Bail, will try harder. Good.

All the sets from that era were lovely, especially the News 24 set.

You're also in the wrong era, as that was a BBC1 studio, not a BBC News Channel studio. I think he's refering to the look before the current one, which was in the studio that was practically all video wall. At least in E, it's not almost all video walls, unlike in C, and to an extent, B.

What about the other programmes on BBC News such as Hardtalk, Reporters, Click, Sportsday and The Papers.

Will they be rescheduled to reflect the new changes to the output on the NC and World?
