"An increase in the budget for the World Service, from ÃÂã245m this year to ÃÂã250m in 2016-17 "
Not really.........
But with 105 job losses? The single largest hit anywhere?
I think that's a fairly major hit!
Yes, a lot of job losses, but with a £5 million increased budget, they are also benefiting. I'm sure other departments would like that much of an increase!
Well I think that it is fair to look at it in human terms - another 105 jobs lost is an awful lot, it's the biggest number of jobs lost in any single area, especially given the context of the cuts that BBC World Service have had to bear in recent years which have been massive.
We're now again losing one of the best shows on air, WHYS, 2 years after losing the award winning "The World Today" on World Service in the mornings.
Far from good news - BBC World Service
taking the brunt of cuts
- AGAIN.

where? All the shows are single man, and nearly all the

There are three double-headed shifts on the News Channel - 08:30-11:00, 11:00-14:00 and 14:00-17:00.
The middle one has been single headed while Ben Brown has been in Brazil.

I guess by five posts disappearing they mean one in the morning and afternoon double headers, both presenters between 11-2 and the early evening presenter. Surely they can't carry on bringing someone in just to present the BBC One bulletins at weekends if this is the case?
BBC News channel will ‘increase the amount of single headed presentation’ - 5 presenter posts to close

I presume the 830-11 and 2-5 shifts will be single headed...there will be no need for a early evening presenter either...I guess you could count both presenters of the 11-2 shift too as Victoria is coming in...
Surely they have to get rid of the presenter that just comes in to do the BBC One weekend bulletins (NC presenter can do it) and stop bringing in Ellie Crissell just for the 8pm update (unless she is gonna present this new strand aimed at younger viewers on the NC)
I presume seeing as Matthew has been moved to world the daytime schedule will see Simon am, Victoria lunchtime, Jane pm and Clive in the evening.

Well it provides relief to the news channel presenter, allowing them to extend their time on air does it not?

So are you saying that the NC presenter isn't entitled to a break? That's what they get when the national bulletins are on!!

Does that mean the end of Moira Stuart on Radio 2 News?
