As you are probably aware, there is a new BBC News 24 countdown now being broadcast on the airwaves.
It's great that the music sounds more powerful (about the corporation) and that the clips of journalists give the countdown a more 'corporate' view rather than a more national view.
However, it would be great for more views from you about the new BBC News 24 countdown.
My favourite is the one that's just been ditched on News 24 -- the one which was used between December 2003 and March 2005. A close second is the BBC World countdown between April 2002 and December 2003.
My fav would probably have to be the 99 version with the globe, and text.
The orginal music was so powerful. It just didn't seem to be as effective when they added the video to the music.
It's a shame you can't vote for more than one. I did decide that it would have to be the current BBC World countdown which has a much better theme tune than the others. The other one I would have voted for would have been the N24 99-03 Countdown with pictures as that had the best BBC News theme tune prior to the current BBC World and also made the countdown more interesting instead of just a number.
I think perhaps, if available, I would have voted for the current (new) N24 countdown as I like the musical variation as well as the brand new style to the countdown as all the others tended to have pictures based on similar things.
Not sure if it would qualifty as a countdown, even though it served the same purpose albeit with no numbers, the original flags countdown graphics and music was best.
Followed by the countdown just discontinued and the BBC World 10 second countdown.
Always hated the red 90-second countdown from 1999 - graphics were garish and the music was horrible. Pretty much in line with everything else during that time about News 24's pres.
