I watched Spotlight's titles from 1999.

**** amazing, they were. THAT'S how to do it.

Compared with the dross we're subjected to at the moment, it's not surprising that people want continuity.

Totally agree with you
They were one of the best sets of titles aswel as the music. Just amazing

We are lucky in Northern Ireland that the outline of the country is instantly recognisable and that the map titles still look great.

LN Newcastle had the advantage of having, essentially, the top bit of England including both coasts to play with. Same goes for the nations. Other regions looked preposterous however.

I remember the reporting scotland titles from the mid ninties, with the logo being a stylized outline of scotland.

The stylised Scotland map was the symbol for BBC Scotland for many years before that incarnation. Can't remember when I last saw it, but it continued for some time on some local programme trails.

I think it is now only used as a logo for Radio Scotland (but sometimes not even then Sad ). It is a brilliant logo.

The current ones are so out of date. I think all across the board should have the BBC Wales one. I like it because the white background shows individuality, yet is still in line with the national titles, and you could put the region shape on the globe like wales. Also, I think a virtual studio that would look like a mini version of the current set would be good, but would be cheaper b/c I'ts virtual. Or I would actually prefer a BBC World set , with the big background of the city, like the dc or ny one.

It also looks like an 'S', for Scotland.

That's embarrassing. Years of seeing that, and I never realised it was a stylised anything.

EDIT: That's embarrassing. I spelt embarrassing wrong.

I also remember feeling a bit of wally when I realised that beyond the map of the region, in slightly darker blue than the background you could see the remainder of the UK.
