Why can't the News Channel presenter that's on air - present the Weekend Bulletin Simulcasts on BBC One, why does it have to be a separate presenter?
Is it too much to ask the likes of Chris Lowe and Peter Sissons (who were main bulletin presenters of BBC News on BBC One in the past) to present the simulcast, rather than all this chopping and changing of presenters, it lacks some consistency. It must also cost more money, which they said they'd be saving.
I'm surprised this hasn't been done to reduce costs. There was a weekend when the news channel presenters did the bulletins. Sadly it appeared to be a one off. It would also give more of an impression that BBC One viewers were dipping into the news channel - rather than the current situation which could be read to imply, rightly or wrongly, that networked bulletins are better than the news channel.
Looks like the Beeb are still trying to keep apart the national news bulletins from the News Channel, I just don't understand why, they use the same set, they might as well use the on duty presenter, unless they are trying to say that they are not good enough for the national news, its just weird.
I forgot to mention this on Friday to our rather amusing roundup of Tim Workaholicox' hours.
On Friday, he started presenting on the News Channel from
at least
3PM. I flicked onto the Channel at about midnight after I'd come home and he was still hard at it! Surely he must have had a break in between, or do we usually consider Mr Wilcox' breaks as duties on the World? Oh, and he was back again today, he'll probably work throughout the night and eventually invade the Breakfast studio, as well as camping on and banishing Kate Silverton from the One tomorrow.
Genuine question from my side too - do they use World set for the overnight simulcast? I have never been able to see the overnights since the big change.

Yes, the overnight simulcasts come from BBC Worlds set, and when the old News 24 set has been done up it will continue coming from there overnights... so only chance of seeing N6 is Dateline London.
