It's been a while since I last visted the Weather Centre but for about 20 years or so, the weather presenter has been more-or-less the only person involved in the production of each forecast. They prepare the forecast graphics in the weather centre, go into a self operated studio, load up their pre-prepared graphics sequence, switch on the lights and that's really it. There isn't a 'weather gallery' at all, the output of the studio goes directly onto the vision mixer of BBC One, BBC Two, News Channel etc or is recorded and sent to the playout centre.
It really is a tightly run, efficient, bit of the BBC. They don't have a lot of spare capacity and getting a tour of the studios is virtually impossible as they are used almost all the time!
