Nice use of the alternative countdown earlier (alternative mix with no numbers),

Anyone else detect the 1999 countdown mixed in there?

Yep! I think Lowe has brought a lot more 1999 samples in to these new mixes. If you compare the 2007 music with the 2008 music, its quite a radical change even though the titles have remained relatively unchanged, the samples used have reverted back to the 1999 kind of sound.

What countdown is this a proposed but never used version?
I never new there was an alternative countdown.
you only have to look at the regions 2008 to see real 1999.

The other night before the ten (when the 90 second countdown version is used), there were no numbers until it reached 60 I noticed, similar to that of the discussed "alternative".

I have just seen a clip of the alternative, are the 1999 stints in the normall countdown between 90-60 as I have not seen the full 90 second one yet.

I am wondering if all of the 1999 stuff regions ect has came back because lowe is running out of ideas Confused I quite like the countdown alough I think the regions tune is a bit bare compared to its 2008 origional which was a 1999 re-mix heard in look north (nec) and LDN only.

The BBC News Channel has been a shambles since the changes were introduced. Almost every single time I tune in now, something goes wrong. The lower third looks terrible, the studio is dark, boring and barren. I've even gone off the new titles. It just feels like they're winging it.

The whole feel of the channel has changed. It feels cheap. It feels bodged. I've gone right off it, and I hate that this is the case. News 24 was a class outfit. What we have now is considerably lower in standard.

Its gone back to the year 1999 really, when virtually everyone at TV Forum used to have a dig at BBC News 24's presentation, only this time there is little variety in the new 24 hour news outlets, at least in the past, watching BBC World's presentation was a breath of fresh air compared to News 24, now they are all the same.

BBC NEWS 24s 1999 stuff was fantastic and un-beatable it was exactley what the channel needed none of these ever lasting TOTH sequnences-they were short and snappy, dramatic titles good countdown and great set it really felt right in that era and it was plain but not to plain like it is now.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T9rqDBQ72GM fantastic.
I think the music was great with nothing to OTT.

Is the current alternative countdown used if the countdown needs to be longer than 60 sec then they slide the normal version(with numbers) in when they have 60 seconds to go?

1999 actually is your favourite year isn't it?

Let's establish what you're surprised at. The fact he was alone or the choice of studio?

Because they need to prepare the main studio for the BBC News at Ten.

Has World itself actually moved into N8 yet or not, as it seems it's only being used for half an hour each day, unless World is on a half hour recorded programme at that point?

Is N8 changing to match the same rough design as N6 at some point, as you really notice the difference at 930pm?

N8 currently does not exist as a studio-its in bits and peices in boxes.
Its not used at all at the moment. World will move there soon but the studio you see is N9 beetween 9.30-10.00.pm

N8 never was a 'studio' so to speak.
