The BBC News Channel has been a shambles since the changes were introduced. Almost every single time I tune in now, something goes wrong. The lower third looks terrible, the studio is dark, boring and barren. I've even gone off the new titles. It just feels like they're winging it.

The whole feel of the channel has changed. It feels cheap. It feels bodged. I've gone right off it, and I hate that this is the case. News 24 was a class outfit. What we have now is considerably lower in standard.

I don't mind the studio TBH, would like to see that gashed screen behind the presenters fixed though because its a terrible eyesore.

Was there a specific reason why the news channel went into N6?
Surely TC7 would have been a better choice?

Nice use of the alternative countdown earlier (alternative mix with no numbers),

Anyone else detect the 1999 countdown mixed in there?

Yep! I think Lowe has brought a lot more 1999 samples in to these new mixes. If you compare the 2007 music with the 2008 music, its quite a radical change even though the titles have remained relatively unchanged, the samples used have reverted back to the 1999 kind of sound.

Has this overhead camera in N6 a new thing? It wasn't used when the News Channel moved in initially, just seemingly this week.

The newspaper first editions are often electronically sent and printed out by the BBC- I suspect it's more an issue with the toner levels in the BBC printer.

I remember it being mentioned before - the whole front page used to have a blue tint - but the headline on that shot is still black.

Maybe it's very very very very very very very dark blue.

Still the same tonight, it's just the toner in their printer which needs replacing. It showing up more on the other papers tonight.

I don't want to split hairs over this but colour laser printers use Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Black toner carts, don't they?

Fading black looks grey, not blue.

Not that I care you understand.

They do indeed, quite odd though nevertheless.

Very funny cock up there due to a delayed 10 on the News Channel.

First of all, Philip Averys Weather System crashes, leaving him frustrated. As seen with Jay Wynne a few weeks back.

We then got about 2 mins worth of adverts, before the 90 Second extended countdown, more of a breakfiller, as it had no numbers counted down until it was faded out ready to go live on BBC One after the football. I guess it had no numbers so it can be run whenever its needed for filling time. It was nice to hear the extended mix in use though.

Anybody know the maximum length of the filler/countdown without numbers? Be nice to see it played out in full.

Seven months, three days. Apparently it's scheduled to be broadcast in full starting in September.

Doesn't it depend on whether the black is being produced by the black toner or through a combination of the other three?

That is possible. In subtractive colour, cyan yellow and magenta form black.

However the black print on the page (in the Daily mail picture) would indicate that a black cart is present and functioning.

But really I don't care. Razz
