To me it just looks like a shiny black surface, a bit like the floor...why would they have a mirror there? Confused

So that from certain angles (on camera) the printer appears invisible. All you should see is the reflection of the rostrum and studio floor. Its a "trick".

Well no, I certainly didn't notice it until it was pointed out. Imagine if it just had a white edge.

Interesting that the News Channel is now being streamed in Flash on the BBC News website rather than the old Real/WMV format.

Do we know if the ratings have changed since the relaunch? If they've gone up, that will be good, of course, and I'd be more inclined to think they were good ones. (Though of course they're good money wise).

I must admit that since the relaunch I never even flick over to Sky News anymore. Whether that's because of what BBC News has done, or because of the almost unwatchability of Sky News, I don't know.
