What could they do. Move the ticker to the left hand side? I ask what is wrong with a simple clock, with a DOG in the top left corner?

Remember people... it's the first day - they'll probably tweak things as the did last year with the graphics, give them time to bed in.

The new full-screen graphics are nice. The studio looks better than I expected, and the joins in the screen have been improved massively, but it's going to take some getting used to. I agree with David Cameron!
The straps remind me hugely of a set of mocks I made, probably around 2003. Unfortunately I think I deleted them a while ago because I thought they were boring and old-fashioned...
I do like the way the Breaking News straps work, but otherwise, utterly uninspired. The layout and colours are fine (although there's too much grey), but they need to animate more like BBC Arabic's, and have a bit more substance to them. Bland is the best word I can use to describe them.
I feel like we've gone back in time with the Gill Sans. It really does look dated - it may have intrinsic links to the BBC, but that certainly is not reason enough to use it for a news channel. It looks particularly awful on full-screen graphics when they seem to be keen on using a very heavy weight.
Current verdict....it looks nice, but some things have gone backwards instead of forwards!
