Aaaarggh!!!!!!!!! Because they are on a SALARY! That's what a salary is - you have a contract to work for an organisation in return for an agreed salary and annual leave entitlement. If the BBC don't want you to work on a Friday then you'll still get your monthly salary because you're a member of staff. It would be a totally different case for a freelancer as they are paid for the hours they work.


Yeah that is daft (Sorry DanielK cannot get your point with this one at all) and was not even an area I covered in my last post a few moments ago.

Should this not be in the presenters & rotas thread? I know this thread will be locked later anyway, but... well, you know.

I'm also off - will be up at 8:30 to see the last Breakfast to NC TVC handover - and to see Mr McCoy and co lead in to NBH later today.

BTW: RIP Nighttime Barco backdrop - we won't see that on screen again.


Indeed it should - guess with so many points going on at the moment we are perhaps crossing boundaries and breaking rules. Anyway as a middle aged mum I can tell my kids I am still a rebel - even staying up at this time is very naughty Wink

Remember from today the BBC staff have been told to refer to the building as just 'Broadcasting House' in a memo from the big wigs.

I wonder how many presenters will accidentally slip in the 'New' bit. Laughing

but then again, it may just simply be referred to as "BBC Newsroom", which I believe is how BBC WN refers to NBH now...

Surely when they're referring to the "BBC Newsroom" they're referring to the BBC Newsroom and not the building it sits in.

Interesting, they've included the BBC Domestic NBH move on BBC WN overnights, though I wish they should just made that the last news report instead of the Royal Baby update.

Yeah I would doubt this myself - newsroom makes more sense as that is the key point for the move affecting this department. Although Worzel may be right as someone is sure to say something about the building. They will all be making the most of it which is good but they are not really the news are they!

Having them all in the same building will be interesting as a viewer as I wonder what noticeable changes we will see from this centralisation? Not sure if this is the correct place for this but weather presentation will also be affected and I for one will be interested how handovers etc will be done from today - not just for news channel but network output. Very Happy

It's not completely centralised within the UK - Breakfast and Sports programming originate from Salford.

There was a quick mention on Breakfast about TV Centre when they did their usual News Channel mini-handover, with Simon McCoy being his usual self! I've not been able to record it but I'd love to see it if anyone does have time to capture it. For those wanting to watch on iPlayer rewind, it's around 08:27.

Very true...centralised is not the word I suppose. Having so much under the same roof would merit it being the main newsroom for this department though. It will be interesting to see the difference of this to me the viewer though?

On a slightly different note, because I don't know where to place this, BBC News can't get enough of the shadow culture secretary. Nearly 15 mins after her interview on Breakfast, she was interviewed on N24. :p

Nice handover from Breakast to NC with that TVC shot wrapped on the Barcos.

The weather team also just did their little farewell at the end of the 8am hour.

It was nice - beginning to feel this will happen now.
