So, out of all the guests they could of got in on tonight's paper review - the final one from TVC - they chose...

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown... Why oh why?

She could start an argument with her own reflection.

Let's hope she gets lost on the way to Broadcasting House for her first there Wink

I'm sure this has been discussed and answered here before but why do they have a presenter just for the BBC1 bulletins.... why not just have the one on the News Channel do it?

Isn't it because they feel a more senior presenter should be seen on BBC One? Peter Sissions does mention in his book that when he moved to N24 he made it quite clear that he would present N24 and the weekend bulletins as it was a waste of time and money bringing another presenter in.

I'm surprised it's survived DQF really, seems a really obvious cost saving

It's always been a little silly anyway, as quite often in the past Jane Hill, Clive Myrie, Tim Willcox, Joanna Gosling, Simon McCoy and Matthew Amroliwala have all presented them and some of those names aren't exactly 'senior' or known by anyone (unless they watch the BBC News Channel).

Or get the Nationals presenter to present the evening shift on the News channel. The 10:30 paper handover was always an odd one, why can't the Ten presenter just throw to the weather - or alternatively say 'XX will be here shortly with the rest of the Ten O'Clock news hour' and play some promos.

Anyway this has all been discussed before and some it now, thankfully is a thing of the past.

It does seem like one, I would guess that the majority of the public wouldn't even notice that the presenter has changed.

Not the best place to comment but a goodbye from BBC Three 60 seconds team mentioned at the start and then ended with a sports update and closing shot of TVC with end cap over the top.

Thought so, it's something that's only really just occurred to me as I rarely watch the bulletins via the News Channel

You're all missing the point that having a separate National presenter allows that person to be involved in editorial decisions about the programmes, agreeing questions with any correspondents due to feature in the bulletins, writing their own scripts etc. I sometimes wonder how some of you think a National bulletin gets to air. If they were all done by the News Channel they would be rather scruffy around the edges. The One O'Clock News, for instance, is quite a hairy show by all accounts. They can get away with it at that time of day, but the evening bulletins rightly need to be polished and professional - even at weekends.
