I've just been for a wander around the News Centre, which is looking rather sad and lonely - only a couple of dozen staff left in the newsroom. While I was there, a director took down the 'On Air' light from above N6's gallery door - he said he was going to get folk to autograph it, and bring it down to BH as a souvenir of TVC.

So after Monday morning, the rest of the staff move over as well and all lights off permantly in news centre?

I do miss a proper TVF completely-in-the-dark relaunch. The Sky News 2005 relaunch was excellent. Nobody had a bloody clue what was going to happen until 6am, and then the completely OTT studio flythrough and music and walking around wowed us all.

Here, we already know what the graphics are going to be like from having seen them on World. The BBC have admittedly done a fairly good job of stopping people taking photographs of Studio E, but then they released a trailer last week that gave us a fairly good look at it, and now today we've been shown the TOTH sequence. There's almost no point in watching at 1 tomorrow. Obviously relaunches can't be orchestrated in a certain way just for the benefit of pres geeks on the internet, but it's a shame that TV companies don't go for the secretive 'big bang' relaunch any more.

Still, we should get a new countdown, so that's something to look forward to.

Agreed. While I'm always hunting high and low to get just the tiniest tit-bit of information, it does seem this time that we practically know almost exactly what we're going to see tomorrow already. This is mainly because we've already seen a studio which is practically identical to the NC's already on air.

Which begs the question why didn't they re-launch N24 and WN at the same time? And to make matters less suspenseful, NN, Marr and SPol have been operating at NBH for quite some time now.

Oh yes, let's forget about all the technical issues in moving one of the world's largest news operations to a completely new and barely tested building just so there can be a bit of suspense for a tiny minority of the population. Come on!

This thread is descending into the Daybreak thread....could people please think before they post? Just trawled through six pages of nothing but pointless speculation, unnecessary 'mocks' and questions that were answered a mere page before, with many posts making no grammatical sense so you have to read them about four times before you understand what the poster is on about.

Please read through your post before you click submit: think 'does it make sense?', 'is this likely to have been answered?' and 'is this a stupid question?' and it won't infuriate many older members.

*rant over*

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Would the BBC auction off things like the news desks, or the frosted glass panels from the sets? Should the more obsessive fans keep an eye on the skips outside the news centre at TVC?

So should we assume the titles have no endboard now with the sweep and wideshot? Will the 1, 6 and 10 still feature in the bulletin titles still?

More of a midboard.

Only one newsroom pan at the top of the hour. The countdown ends differently to World, but I won't spoil the surprise entirely. There's definitely a few treats in the countdown.

Generally speaking they donate them either to Wood Norton, BBC Academy or to local colleges for their media productions, or they end up on the BBC News tours (if such a thing exists). I don't recommend skip raiding on Wood Lane, it'll result in a S136...

Yes, I remember seeing the old Working Lunch desk during a tour at Oxford Road.

Would have been a cool thing to do for Comic Relief.

I would assume that they'll have a skeleton staff there on standby for a bit.... just in case. Then of course there'll presumably still be some items to move over or sort

Given that other BBC News services have moved to BH in recent months, what are the chances that a guided tour will be given to domestic audiences?

WN viewers were treated to a guided tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qvtx-_K3DT8

Also, another bone to pick related to a Newswatch feature which says the move will save them over the long run because it consolidates all news services under a single roof. Except for one thing: aren't they forgetting Salford?

Presumably the nightmare scenario is a massive breaking news story at about 12.45...

Even at 12.00 or 12.30. Imagine if the pope will have been chosen at around that time tomorrow instead of last week. Then again 13.00 is a strategic time to do the relaunch just in case. As we know, the nationals are designed to accommodate opt-outs from N24 and at the same time run as is. In other words, in case the "nightmare" will happen, the re-launch will likely push through at 13.00 for viewers on BBC1 as normal.

It's not as if the power's going to be cut of to TV Centre at bang on 13:00. I'm sure there's a provision for them to keep broadcasting from there should the need arise.
