Some more nostalgia:

I do hope we get treated to a full play through of one of the new 60sec countdowns into the News at One tomorrow. Smile

I do miss a proper TVF completely-in-the-dark relaunch. The Sky News 2005 relaunch was excellent. Nobody had a bloody clue what was going to happen until 6am, and then the completely OTT studio flythrough and music and walking around wowed us all.

Here, we already know what the graphics are going to be like from having seen them on World. The BBC have admittedly done a fairly good job of stopping people taking photographs of Studio E, but then they released a trailer last week that gave us a fairly good look at it, and now today we've been shown the TOTH sequence. There's almost no point in watching at 1 tomorrow. Obviously relaunches can't be orchestrated in a certain way just for the benefit of pres geeks on the internet, but it's a shame that TV companies don't go for the secretive 'big bang' relaunch any more.

Still, we should get a new countdown, so that's something to look forward to.

I don't think the BBC want to alienate their audience though.. and who would?

Why should they not keep mentioning it ( I can see how it annoys some people) , but it's the end of a era! , a lot of these staff may have started their careers in this building and there may be a lot of nostalgia. ( obviously) Rolling Eyes Very Happy
imo.

I'm not making a comment on whether it should be mentioned.

But the point is the programme isn't made for the staff, it's made for the viewers. Most of which won't care.

True , most won't even notice.

Besides, it's not the only story being repeated every hour if you watch the news channel all day.

That's the only thing left to see as not even UK viewers get a WN countdown, and the actual layout of the clock.

I don't know if it is just me but are the images out of WN's shows slightly shaper/more vivid than N24?

Thanks for that insight. Why doesn't the News channel pass through the Broadcast Centre? (Sorry if this is a stupid question).

There was never really any need. News 24 was always self-contained, and was just run directly from a gallery in TVC, and got by with playing all its presentation elements itself. World was always a bit more complicated with its regional variations and ad breaks, which is why it needed its own playout suite.

OK. Smile That's always something I wondered about.

Going back to the Ticker - I wonder if the new style will suffer from the problem the other one did and start to get the Hippy shakes. What used to cause that, just the system needing rebooting?

I do hope it's fixed - if only to stop nonsensical, and highly annoying, references to a Chan Romero song by a certain member.

There's no need to be rude is there, you come out with some stuff that's highly annoying from time to time also.

I think that member, as you so elegantly put it refers to the Swinging Blue Jeans, actually.

Ben Rich just gave his final Weather sign off from TVC, I suppose Matt Taylor will be the next this evening.

Agreed. While I'm always hunting high and low to get just the tiniest tit-bit of information, it does seem this time that we practically know almost exactly what we're going to see tomorrow already. This is mainly because we've already seen a studio which is practically identical to the NC's already on air.
