I'm told the studio order for launch on Monday from 1300 is

Studio E
Studio C
Studio E
Studio A (Virtual Set)
Studio E
Studio C

Will have a chance to see it all then!

I suppose it'll be this then:

Studio E: From 1pm launch till 5pm
Studio C: 5pm till 6pm (to allow Six rehearsal)
Studio E: 6pm till 9pm
Studio A: 9pm till 10pm (to allow Ten rehearsal)
Studio E: 10pm till 12:30am
Studio C: Overnight/World News

Overnights definitely staying in C? It won't move to E until 5am?

I thought that plan was to put the Overnight Simulcast in Studio E?

Until I guess 2008, it was N24 that produced the overnight simulcasts hence you would see their own news studios in use. In recent years however, especially with the programme Newsday simulcast and Mike Embley presenting, it has been WN that took responsibility of the overnights hence it is WN's studios that are prioritised.

Its getting darker in N8 Wink

dark indeed, only keeping a few lights on and a few monitors...
from what i see on their faces, they'll surely gonna miss TVC.

Looks like they've got this ready for the inevitable next week:

that definitely looks much better than the one showed up on BBC WN on the first day.

A few people on Twitter (on the back of my countdowns tribute) asked me to produce a Television Centre presentation one... so here it is. 2:30 in on the clip, the annoraks will really love the old News 24 promo I dug out!

Enjoy...

One final video that I've found is this. Skip along to a minute in, and you get a tour of all the old News studios including N1, which is now just a store cupboard. Really interesting.

Looks like it was still going in 2002 as seen here....28/12/2002

That studio brings back bad memories I used to compare it with bbc world and how lively the newsroom atmosphere and felt more like a news channel then 24 did, hell i even hated news 24s theme tune when it started off with an elephant horn!, fast forward to 2013 and it looks like it will be the other way round with bbc news having a real newsroom backdrop.

Somewhat amusingly the elephant horn sounded in the video right as I read elephant horn in your post. It does sound like an elephant doesn't it!

Weekend 24 was shown on BBC Two in the morning at the weekend (originally on just Saturday or Sunday, not sure if eventually both), and started quite soon after News 24 launched (when it was still in N9).

Yes, it began at the beginning of 1998, on Saturdays at 8-9am. I remember someone saying at the tme it had been introduced as people were complaining nobody could see News 24 in those days so it was a chance for terrestrial viewers to see it in a more civilised slot than just overnights . The reason it was only 8-9am was because there was Open University programmes either side of it. It wasn't on Sundays as MOTD, Breakfast with Frost, the OU and kids' shows were all in the way.

Nowadays, it may be pointless for that given that a) everything is entirely digital and b) N24 is on at 11.00 weekdays on '2.' That is except if you are a pay-TV viewer from Belgium and the Netherlands as it is their chance to see a domestic alternative to BBCWN.

Not quite - N1 is the rather spartan studio you see with the black and white floor and used to be BBC World's studio. N2 is the one with all the crap in it and that was BBC News before 1998.
